I think this team is going to surprise us and win 14-16 games. Much improved with strong defense and crisp passing on offense as well as finishing better around the basket with our big boys. Pikiell and staff are actually coaching BB team that can win. We now have size like we have never have had before. I love Gettys. He has a great BB IQ and has a soft touch around the rim. So does Sa and Freeman. Omoruyi made some nice plays and Issa has a beautiful stroke.
Nigel is quick similarly to Corey. I love watching both of them play. Their ability to dribble and drive, shoot and distribute will really help us in B1G play. I think both of them can play the floor at the same time just like Gettys and Doorson can play at the same time. It gives Pikiell a lot of options.
I'm still concerned with outside shooting, but we may have found our 3 point shooters in Thiam and Laurent. Today they both had a nice touch from beyond the arc. Williams to me looks like the Williams of old. I realize he had a nice game against Molloy, but watching him against a division 1 school he was once again rushing his shots. I hope he can adjust better than he did in this game, because we're going to need him especially in B1G. With that said, M Williams was great around the boards and scored twice underneath.
What is refreshing going forward is that we actually look like and play like a well coached team. So, no matter what happens the rest of the way, I think we're going to surprise some people in the B1G. We now have size. I can't believe we actually have to 7 footers in Gettys and Doorson. We never had so many kids over 6' 9" before. I'm very encouraged.
