...okay, maybe not exactly but he gets to the point. The priority should be BASKETBALL. Yes, maybe all 24 sports need help but men's basketball (okay, he said men's and women's basketball) is the highest profile program in desperate need TODAY. Women's program should be next and THEN the rest. Men's basketball should not be lumped in with all of the other "minor" sports. If Football is #1, Basketball is far and away #2.

Lesniak did Barchi a favor with his comments regarding all 24 sports and the costs for upgrades. Barchi was able to seize on that rather than address what started all this in the first place - the need for a basketball practice facility.

Theoretical debate.....

Genie comes out of the bottle and says...we can build you a practice facility that is either at or slightly below your competition OR offer $1,500,000 extra each year to allocate towards paying coaches for at least the next 7 years. If you want a bit extra to buy out current coach that is OK too.

Which do you take?

All sports need upgrades. However, with 20+ sports, there needs to be a priority and men's bball should be at the front of the line due to its visibility and ability to generate dollars. Wrestling should be up there as they have been able to generate crowds this year.

Unless Lesniak proves he's more than talk and brings up helping the RU MBB program in the NJ Legislature.
Not expecting them to help, but expect one of it's members that claims he/she thinks Rutgers should do more to make\RU MBB
better when speaking to the media, to bring up the State helping RU with some of the funding where he/she works.

Talk is cheap for a politician , when they plan to do nothing .
