Don't think you can ever say that.
Just host regionals every year. Do that and you're in good shape.
Expectations of a CWS appearance may be a smidge too much, but simply hosting a regional as a team in the #13-16 range(like this season) ain’t it either.
That pretty much guarantees a strong #2 in your regional plus having to go on the road for a Super which is not a reliable recipe for Omaha.
We are investing too much in baseball to not have that expectation. I'm not 100% sure where we are relative to the conference/nation but we got O'Connor for a reason and it wasn't to not make the CWS.
We were ranked 4 at the start of the year in the D1 Baseball poll and haven’t lived up to that but also lost our Friday night starter. This year being a bust would’ve been awful, so I’m mostly glad we avoided that outcome. I think I had us at 20 conference wins but I’m always too optimistic.
I’m OK with the year and relieved but not over the moon. There’s enough randomness in regionals that I don’t like requiring CWS in any one year but think of it as 2-3 every 5 years given our level of investment.

I’m of the opinion that if we routinely host Omaha will take care of itself.
Obviously I’d love to average a national seed 2-3 times every 5 years.
If we finish this thing out and host this year, you have to like where we are as a program. I hate to say year 1 in this era, but it’s still true.
This is the only way to make Omaha regularly. Host regionals & host superregionals. Can you get there on the road? Sure. But not regularly.
This is the correct answer. Our objective should be to host Regionals 3-4 out of every 5 years. Omaha & as a result CWS Championships will take care of themselves.

I predicted 42-13, 23-7. Needless to say, I'm disappointed with conference results. We should not have lost series with Arky and Auby. Nobody should sweep a team as talented as O'Connor's team.
The goal is to be in the discussion for CWS and for a Super Regional.
There are things beyond control that happen.
Any "fan" can vent about the ways a team and coach underperforms. What's odd is you rarely hear the focus on all the ways the team is over performing. That just gets dismissed. Says a lot about a fanbase and a person that does that.

I agree BUT I think he will need more than a year to recruit a full roster of "his" players. I would say CWS in 4 years max. Chemistry is important ask Lemonis as I know for a fact it wasn't the best.
