The MDOT is taking out the center turn lane and adding a concrete median on Hwy 12 in 2 phases. Phase 1 is from New Light Road to KFC. Phase 1 is suppose to be finished by October. Phase 2 is from KFC to MSU. When you come to Scotty's or Zaxby's from MSU you will go to the light on the corner of Stark Road and Hwy 12 and make a U-turn. No more left hand turns into or out of businesses on HWY 12.

The center lane is suppose to be for left hand turns only. We were told to many people get in the center lane and merge right causing accidents. They said there are more accidents on the stretch of HWY from MSU to Walmart than any other stretch of HWY in Mississippi. We were also told it will not affect our business.

They're getting rid of suicide lanes all over the state, wherever possible.

On another note, have any of you Rankin Countians run up against these new turn lane curbs out east? They're not 'curbs' so much as 'concrete walls between lanes'. They're like 2 feet tall. What is up with that?

The final curbs won't be that high. There is more asphalt to be placed.

I wish someone would inform the MDoT that frontage roads, and highways void of stoplights would do wonders for my travel time through Flowood, when going to Starkville**

That was the only way I turned left onto HWY 12 in college. Glad they are going to promote safe driving with the medians. It should look great too.

It WILL affect your business. If I've got to go past your business to a traffic light, wait for light to change, do a U turn and backtrack to your business and then do it all over again to get back to the direction of travel where I originally started from vs going to the same type business on the side of the road I was traveling on to begin with, guess where I'm going? Add morning commute, noon time or 5:00 traffic to this equation and the odds of me using your business are even less. Not picking on your business at all, don't know what it is, just stating facts about human nature
