I know very very very little about golf..... But I love this result! #14 knocking off #3 seed!

Very little consolation but Herky fans can’t claim they beat us in every Men’s sports, which they didn’t last year but you can’t explain that to them.

The 2 mid-year transfers (Klooz and Cottam) cracked the top 6 for the first tournament of the spring season and both won their matches. Both of the kids are from small towns in Nebraska.

Live scoring updates are not positing right now (BirdieFire). 2nd round is nearly completed, and a tight match so far. Huskers have won 2 matches and lost 1 match for those that have finished. We are down in 2 matches and up in 1 match for those that are still in progress. So tied 3-3 as it stands right now. Not sure the tiebreaker criteria.

Match ended up tied 3-3, but Huskers win on the tiebreaker criteria (Nebraska's #1 golfer won his match).

Huskers will take on #10 seed Maryland, who has also posted 2 upset wins, in the semifinal round tomorrow morning.

One other thing. How about going with 5 matches?....or 7 for an odd number win?

In match play, you can still tie with 5 or 7 players. Example for 5 players is each team wins 2 matches and halves the 5th match. That ends up a 2.5-2.5 tie.

Stroke play events still play 5 on a team each round, and score the lowest 4 of the 5 players. Stroke play events are generally 54 holes, playing 36 on Day 1 and then 18 on Day 2 (get away day). Early season match play events generally play 6 on a team, to get more players some golf.

Was gone all day yesterday. Huskers dropped the semifinal match to Maryland 4-2, then lost the consolation match to perennial power Illinois 5-1.

Be nice if they ever get their own course. Could also use the course with any golf management majors or even agronomy/turf management students.
That was supposed to happen about 20 years ago at Fallbrook. But as I recall, the blowhard who was heading up the Alumni Association at that time was a lot better at hiring immediate family members than he was at securing the funding for that project.

Where did they play ? The entire Midwest is covered in snow.

Thinking about trying to play golf in the winter brought me back to my high school days. I wanted to try out for one of the local high school golf teams. I don't recall if it was February or March but one day I found out that tryouts for the golf team are today at Holmes park.

So I rush out to Holmes after school. Have not swung a club all winter since probably September. The coach is standing on #1 watching everybody tee off. I get up there and absolutely crease a drive down #1. Not quite Ricky fowler but as good as I could possibly do in the situation. I think I made par on that hole but the only shot the coach saw anybody hit was the drive on #1.

Based on that 1 shot I assumed I made the team but in my surprise I was cut after that 1 shot and did not get invited back the next afternoon. Think maybe the coach had the team picked before anybody teed off ?
