His tenure at Miami was before my time but I remember him predicting a National championship before his one season at Oklahoma
Didn't he once land in a helicopter on a football field before a game started?? Fuzzy on the deets and Google could prolly help, but does anyone know what i'm talking about??
Listening to the stories those Miami players tell of yesteryear are nothing short of fabulous.
I can’t forgive him for that grandstanding home field advantage landing of the helicopter on the Orange Bowl field. The triplets not winning that 83 NC is still the toughest loss to take in my 60 years of fandom. Nonetheless RIP Howard, you played your cards right.
He turned a poodle into a Rottweiler. But I didn't have a problem with Howard, Jimmy Johnson on the other hand.
The ‘83 defense was mediocre. They had problems defending the pass in multiple regular season games.
Miami did their homework and scored just enough to win.
