So you are acknowledging Obama has played a part in the racial breakdowns upending what was achieved over the last 40 years?
The election of Obama catalyzed the racists who had been somewhat dormant for years. That is the irony of those who say Obama is polarizing. I'm sure had he been a better leader, the confederate flag crew would have fallen in line.

If you're talking to me, I just linked an article and offered no opinions in the original post. If "racial breakdown" means emboldening blacks to challenge "the system" then the election of BO probably played a role and I won't even guess as to "what was achieved" means and it might depend on what your skin color is.

You mean racists didn't like a black man being elected? I'm shocked!! It took until now for them to be heard? Are you serious Clark? Who gives a damn about their racist agenda? Certainly not me. Can the same be said by Liberals for the BLM movement?

Nice deflection. People, like you claim that if Obama was a good leader, the country wouldn't be polarized. Silly and naive.

It’s not just anger over jobs and immigration. White voters hope Trump will restore the racial hierarchy upended by Barack Obama.

IMO some of you are too simple in your thinking. You are still attempting to paint the Tea Party into a black/white argument. But you have made it much easier to degrade the movement when you can reduce it to those terms.

From my perspective, people are unhappy with what their world has become. We are looking at the world in political terms as party. It is true that elections have consequences. We are confused in where we wish the power to reside. DO YOU WANT THE POWER TO RESIDE IN SHORT TERM LEADERSHIP OF A PESON OR LONG TERM LEADERSHIP OF A PARTY?

The Tea Party initial intent, IMO, was to remove power from party leadership in DC and restore power to local people. They wanted to replace those in either party whose allegiance was to the party in DC. I won't attempt to offer when this powerful institution evolved, but SCOTUS reinforced it with the decision to make money equivalent to speech. That put powerbroker money in charge of our government and removed the theoretical balance of "one-man-one-vote". Hopefully no one sees any parity to access of representation with the current system. A person with a vote does not yield the political power as does the man who can contribute $100,000. Our political system has gotten away from the original intent. The Tea Party was attempting to real that power back in with numbers who have a common goal to restore the system power back away from access via money and the individuals who are buckling under to that money.

He's not a good leader... he's a horrible leader. An executive he is not.

Trump came about because people are tired of political ********. They're tired of the Poly Sci majors and Lawyers of the world screwing things up. Has nothing to do with the race of Obama's father. It has to do with him being more of the same, part of the political machine, and ultimately... a horrible leader.

He is exactly what was voted for a couple times. No experience at anything other than being black. We all get to pay for that mistake unfortunately.

Actually I think if he was a good leader things wouldn't be as polarized...racist people are not suddenly going to disappear...are things better than they were in the months prior to him taking office - maybe so to some degree, but it's no shining utopia that was promised and people have noticed that. He was hyped to be the unifier...he has been a divider.

I must've missed the shining utopia promise. I remember a promise to get a new health insurance program and a promise to end a couple wars. Also a promise to kill bin laden. Truthfully, I don't recall a promise to double the stock market, save the US auto and banking industry, and create new jobs for 70+ straight months and get the UE rate down to 5%. I guess he accidentally pulled that stuff off.

Speaking of naive, some folks actually believe that people who think Obama is a bad president only think this because they are racist.
