how to block potentially offensive stuff

Upper right. Hold your mouse over your username next to the envelope and the flag icons and you'll see Your Profile Page and click on People You Ignore. Just add the member you wish to ignore and save changes. Alternatively, click on username below avatar and click on Ignore in the pop-up box.

Tim- you can ignore in mobile format. Press their username and and a pop up with their profile will come up. From there you can press ignore or follow under their username
