Get in this thread with your HONEST thoughts and expectations for this program the rest of the year. None of the “I expect a title every year herpy derp derp” type stuff people who never give a dollar say. Curious what your honest thoughts on Rhule are (if you don’t like him because he’s not a product of program inbreeding, just say it). Halfway in, and it will be interesting to look back towards equipment check in time

I predicted 10 wins at the start of the season and will be happy with 9 based on where we are now. I had thought we would have 8 last year and was disappointed we missed that milestone.

I figured we would be outside looking in at the playoffs this year with our 10 wins gotta win this week to keep the ball rolling.

i am obviously a Rhule fanboy and have appreciated his process and I have trusted what he was doing and building in the program. With Ek, Holgerson and the young talent we are developing I think we will be a top 10 next year.

My expectations have not changed since preseason. I felt like 8-4 is the minimum acceptable to say that we are on an upward trajectory. 7-5 would feel more like stagnation, that we aren’t getting where we need to be in the third year with a sophomore 5 star QB and a revamped staff.

So minimum expectation is to finish 3-3. That’s like a tie, I’m neither happy nor sad. Hope we do better than that.

Yes, 8 would not sit well now. Because it would mean losing winnable games in NOV. A win Friday and against NW would set 9 as the bar to feel good about the year. Hard to feel good losing 3 of final 4.

I'm bought in... are there issues that need addressed? Yes, of course... is the trajectory of the team heading in the right direction, Also Yes, does the team Believe in what's transpiring, Heck Yes! you can see it in the body language, the interviews and the way the team carries itself... Those hard games that have been fought have made them better as adjustments are being made. I can see potential for the Fellas to Win out... my reality says they'll drop one... I'm calling it at 5-1 but wouldn't be surprised if the fellas go 6-0 and head to the B1G Championship game

I'm still forecasting 9 wins, even with this Penn State distraction....

This was my pre-season prediction:

W - Cincinnati
W - Akron
W - Houston WTF
L - Michigan
W - Michigan St
W - Maryland
L - Minnesota
W - Northwestern
L - USC
L - UCLA
L - Penn St
L - Iowa

NOW, I expect a win at Minnesota and v Northwestern; a loss to USC; a toss up at UCLA and Penn St, and a possibly a win v Iowa.

I guess 8 or 9 wins.

Matt Rhule is a great speaker, motivator, marketer etc.. I do not think he's really a sharp football coach. I see 8 wins (+ or - 1) to end the regular season.

If we got to 10 wins, he might be able to squeeze the booster support for more NIL money. I just don't think that is a winning formula for consistent results. Doing more with less, is the Nebraska way, and running an old school offense is the proven formula for long term success.

I think we beat Minnesota & NW, and likely a loss to USC. UCLA, Penn State and Iowa will all be tossups imo.

Crazy to think that Indiana fans predicted more wins for their team...
It goes to show what a badass coach can do

I think we have a lot of "old school" boosters that love to hear Matt talk and would be fine with 9 win seasons. I really do.

While the program has improved I feel like it’s because of the coordinators we brought on. And it felt like they were forced changes. How we kept rolling with the OCs and special teams coaches makes me question Rhule. He just comes off as soft and that won’t cut it in this conference. Someone also posted some old **** he said about George Floyd or something of that nature and his woke wordage made him sound like a sell out.

But if we keep winning I’ll be okay with all of that. He just comes off as a car salesmen to me. Not who I would hire

At 5-1 and considering the remaining schedule, 8 wins will be disappointing.

Losses to Minnesota, Northwestern or Iowa would be unacceptable.

Eight wins a season is the baseline. Be competitive against everyone in the conference. Spend more time above eight wins and very little time below eight wins. But if we have a good coaching staff, don't fire everyone just because of one bad season like those two dumbasses did about 25 years ago.

Id prefer they go 6-0 down the stretch and miss the BIG title game. Let IU and OSU play it out in CCG. Leaves Oregon and NU with 1 loss and punching their tickets to the tourney early.
Id think the BIG wants NU and USC at 1 loss against one another. The winner there would be the 4th Team from the conference if everyone takes care of their part in the rest of the season.

The two games we need to win badly are tonight’s game against Minnesota and the Clarkeyes on black Friday.

9-3 really looks like a good possibility.

I said 7-5 or 8-4 at the beginning of the year. Still feeling about the same.

I’d cope with 8 in retrospect if we get 10+ next year.

I am going to be incredibly disappointed if we lose to either Minnesota or Iowa, because that will only happen if we are severely outcoached.
I don’t know how you can say that as Iowa’s o-line and d-lines are slightly better than Minnesota’s, so Iowa is going to the roll the huskers.

I can say that because I’m willing and capable of being disappointed in this team.
