I think it's good he's coaching the NC game, but I was wondering how he was accomplishing both jobs. How is the time split? Also, any news on staff additions?

he should have announced both of his coordinators by now. This is one reason why I didn't want him splitting time.

Can't recall who was being interviewed,.. but it was one of the NEW hire coaches, at another school: He says:

Not planning to hire his other coaches now... was waiting untill after the bowl games were over.. will be several more qualified coaches available then.

I don't think we're at anywhere near panic time, but it's certain Mullen did not have a group of coaches ready to go...I do think his hires are critical, In my opinion, that is why Felker did not make it, ...was just glad to get the job, and did not get good help...maybe the budget got in the way.

recruiting class hadnt already been in place, but with the recruiting class in pretty good shape I think he can take his time and find the best asst. possible.

I could care less about the Gators and their quest for another NC game. It makes me wonder about Mullen's connections with not him naming his coaching staff. Now if he has a surprise or two by naming the rest of the staff from the bowl games fine, but not being able to name a DC which is his most important hire is a question mark.

he may have called a bunch of experienced folks that didn`t want to take a chance in a risky situation. We took a calculated risk in hiring Mullen and we`re happy but it still is what it is.

will be filled after the bowls. During last night's bowl game, Rodriguez said even he was waiting till after the bowl season to fill his defensive coordinator spot. I also keep hearing the Mullen may be bringing one or more guys from Florida and you know they won't turn loose till after their bowl game. If we don't have a staff in place 2 or 3 weeks after the BCS Championship game, then I will worry.

while I hate that we have to wait... I don't think it affects our recruiting class. While there's much to be done, I think those things can be done after the NC game with little affect on our program. Crooms stay at Green Bay severaly affected his 1st recruiting class- Mullen's stay doesn't. It will certainly be better pub and possibly get a few more looks from recruits. Either way, I would much rather him search and hire the best staff possible than hurry thru the process. Right now, all he has to do is keep the recruiting class entacted.

Thanks Croom.

we hired Ellis Johnson 5 years ago and he parlayed it into a better gig..well, actually 2 better gigs.

There is no rush to hire a coordinator. We don't need to force decisions simply b/c of Pernell McPhee.
