I have the utmost regard for every athlete on a team who has given up every second of their academic career to risk their health, their enjoyment, and their family time. They all deserve this honor, which is the greatest of them all.

If you come on a message board looking for respect you are in trouble. Everyone on here is entitled to their opinion. So least respected.....who cares...I dont!

I try not to boast but here I go. It’s got to be Andrews !! A school enrollment of only 210 students. Do you know how hard it is fielding a team with that number not to mention fielding good athletes. It’s not unusual to have only 18 to 23 players on any given year where the starting 11 play both sides of the ball and special teams with hardly any breaks during the game. This year we have 30 players 10 returning starters on both sides of the ball and enough lineman to rotate in and out to stay fresh. This team is special and they are a once in a lifetime group for Andrews High

I would say the team with the least amount of respect this season so far would have to be Andrews. Everyone said something about their pre-season schedule but they showed up and went undefeated in the SMC which is not an easy task. From a Murphy fan, they gained my respect and I will say they will gain the respect of a lot of people throughout the playoffs. They are legit, very disciplined and very confident. Good luck to any team that plays them because you'll have to bring your A game and be discipline free or they will make you pay.

Agree with some of this and agree with some others who have posted.

I can't say I am disappointed about the charters being down. Hate it for the kids but man, well I won't go there.

MA is not disrespected; I think most folks have them in the west finals or even going to the ship. Just a lot on here enjoy going at it with the Bears fans. But as far as the team yeah, they are going to be a tough out for anyone.

I would go with Andrews as least respected. Them boys are tough as nails. I know there has been quite a bit of talk about them but they are special this year. #2 and #3 for me on the list is ER and Thomasville. (See comments below)

Most improved I can agree with Draughn. Yeah 1 or too folks on here have got a little mouthy for a new to the scene program but can't really blame them. Will be interesting to see how they handle a potential second round Mitchell game. I am not saying they will, but could Draughn overlook Mitchell? I mean after totally dismantling Mitchell earlier this year it could be easy to do. Or they could represent the west. That offense is very versatile and explosive. I will pencil them in for top 2 preseason in the west next year.

Misunderstood on Mitchell. Again, can't say I haven't falling into this category myself. I have been extremely critical at times this season, especially about the defense. I just think most everyone underestimated how much the few seniors from last season meant to the team. A whole lot of teams would love to have a 3-loss regular season, with the loses coming to teams with a combined 2 loses. Hopefully the 2nd Draughn game will at least be competitive. (Hoping Mitchell isn't overlooking S. Davidson as I am doing.)

Best without knowledge, I will go with both ER and Thomasville. Much respect for both, but I just haven't watched any of them to know enough. What I do know is they are both really good to outstanding programs.

The west should have some outstanding match ups in the playoffs this year. I know they have hit a somewhat rough stretch but never overlook them Black Knights from Rville or the Dogs from Murphy. Just look at the run Murphy had last year as an example.

I agree and think Eastern Randolph is getting Rodney Dangerfield "no respect" levels off of one bad game against Murphy last year. I may be wrong, but I think possibly they got a little surprised by what was out there in 1A a few rounds deep because they had dropped down from 2A and had destroyed everybody all year. I just don't see that happening again this year.

Andrews all year people seem to respect--but with a caveat. Like "they're good for a school that small" or "they're good but they'll wear down, when it gets to conference play" etc. And I think they've shown they're just good, period.

Eastern Randolph was the team I was most worried about last year. Especially since we felt we weren’t as talented as years past. With that said, wouldn’t be shocked one bit if they end up in the title game this year. Agree with the above poster, I think they got punched in the mouth last year by Murphy, maybe caught them off guard a little and they never recovered

Not saying that wasn’t part of what occurred last year. As I have said before there was another extenuating circumstance that had a serious effect on that game. Not making any excuses though. Still have to play the game. Good luck to everyone tomorrow and remember they are teenagers please.

I still got Andrews-Tville and ER-MA in classic battles to make it to the West title game. All four are very capable of winning against one another so I am excited to see how it plays out. Never count out Murphy, Mitchell and Robbinsville and I give props to Draughn as the outside looking in candidate. Tville-Andrews would be a tale of two different styles. One that hammers the ball downhill all night mixing in a few passes and the other THS with two 1000 yard rushers, a very agile QB and a defense that makes big plays when the ball is in the air. ER-MA are very close in size and capabilities on both sides of the ball. Speed edge would be ER, but MA has enough athletes to limit the damage. Excited about the playoffs and who wins out!

This is accurate but I would just add #7 for Andrews is a big time playmaker on both sides of the ball, 10 interceptions on defense and 1,000 yards rushing on offense while playing half the season with his hand in a cast. 6'1 190 lbs with track speed, you won't find many kids in 1A more athletic than him. Andrews doesn't have the collective speed or athleticism of the piedmont teams but #7 is special, a gamebreaker.

Good post. I will only add in the Mitchell team a lot has been said about off field stuff that I won't rehash but as far as on field when you lose seniors from one year to the next it's not always just a matter of talent you may have the next man up talent wise but sometimes just as important you lose the senior or seniors who are the vocal leaders.
Someone mentioned to me that has been an issue some boys are very talented in playing the game but just by nature isn't a very vocal person and not just in the locker room before a game but like on defense on the field being the defensive QB that might have been an issue this year.
But I do believe they've looked more together lately playing as a team and the healthiest they've been in while so I believe if they play Draughn again it'll be a much more competitive game.

Most Improved Team over 2020: Andrews - special season that everybody up there will remember

Team(s) taking a step back: Elkin - what has happened on the Big Elkin Creek

Wishing them to a Better Next Year: North Stokes and Cherryville (2 former Rams coaching there)

Most Misunderstood Season: I agree with Mitchell. Still a very dangerous opponent.

Least Amount of Respect: Can’t answer that one…sorry! I respect all the teams, coaches, and players.

Best Team We Know Nothing About: Eastern Randolph. I know that they have an outstanding head coach in Burton Cates.
