Sorry to Hijack the thread, but memories of Len Lew's have filled my mind. In 1968, it was a favorite gathering place for many of us who loved cold beer and BBQ. I have old guy memory, but as far as I know Len Lew's cooked their pork over a pit and sliced it (no pulled pork at Len Lew's), then served it with BBQ sauce on a burger bun, for most of us with a pitcher of Schlitz, Budweiser or PBR.
What good BBQ and what good memories. I still do everything I can do today to honor the Len Lew's tradition.

Back in 68, we also had a Coleman's BBQ (on H-82?) that was very smoky and pretty good. If my memory is correct, you could buy 4 Pork BBQ sandwiches at Clark's Minute Mart for $5.00. I have no idea how they made money on them.
Thanks guys, Back to Little Dooey's.
$5 in 1968 was a lot of money. If you'll recall, we played all our "good" football games in Jackson, and a game ticket was $5. I don't know what the inflation factor is since then, but I'll bet it's in excess of 10. So that $1.25 pork sandwich would be $12 or $13 now ... quite pricey.
