Yes, this was a serious post and was accompanied by ridicule from the sheep over there. I won't embarrass the poster by using his/her screen name, but there is some weird **** being discussed over there since they finally admitted that our program is way ahead of theirs.

Part of Ole Miss’s problem with getting to Omaha is Larry Templeton. Yes, it is also one of the reason State makes it to Omaha. It seems year after year we have harder regionals and super regionals than State. Maybe not every year, but most years.
That’s not going to change with Bianco gone. The SEC puts up with Ole Miss. It never does us any favors. We are not one of the SEC’s golden eggs. Neither is State, but Templeton has their back.

So many folks that have trouble grasping the simple idea that the higher seeds should have easier Regionals than lower seeds.

It's just fortunate that Larry was able to make sure we got the national seed opposite the hottest offensive baseball team in the country.

Funny how we went on the road in 2018 and won a regional and a super. In 2013 we won a super on the road. In 2007 we won a regional on the road.

Hard to have sympathy for them when we go win on the road in the post season and they have lost in home regionals to TN Tech and Utah.

Screw them. The only reason they ever cared about baseball is because we care about baseball. They are the "Johnny Come Lately".

I can't imagine the level of fandom it would take to convince yourself that LT is doing something competently and effectively. If y'all ever see me talking about how Pete Boone really screwed us, delete my account and see if you can get in touch with my family to have an intervention, because it will be clear at that point that MSU has finally broken me.

many regionals they have hosted and lost where there were no power 5 schools in it or the power 5 school was Utah...I bet they did absolutely zero research before making that post. Steve did a post showing who they played in regionals for years back and the teams they played and lost to shoots a hole in that opinion immediately, especially when you consider that MSU has done it on the road against Top 8 seeds to reach Omaha. We have also played top 8 seeds on the road in regional play and not made it out. Funny how having a regular season that is good enough to warrant a top 8 seed comes with some perks, it is also no guarantee for reaching Omaha since most years only half of the top 8 (or less) make it.

I said it before and I will say it again, political influence, payoffs, and back room deals are how most of them live their lives. So if they didn't win, of course someone screwed them over. They just didn't get to screw someone else over. It's how they look at the world. Their perpetual whining only makes sense in that context.

When I think of Larry Templeton and chess, I picture him using a shuffleboard stick to slowly slide a checker up a hopscotch grid to a ultimate destination of “below average”

it is true that most of the monied Rebel faithful (and that's the diehards) view the world through that very prism.
It's how their parents, grandparents, and previous generations "back befora the Woar" made it in life.
Don't hate: appreciate their self-serving sacrifices.

I found the original post, screen grabbed it, and sent it to a relative of LT's.

I know for a fact that LT's son thinks it's the funniest thing he's ever seen and LT himself let out a big laugh upon it being forwarded to him. I'm sure he'd say something like "rent free" if he is familiar with the phrase.

This is embarrassing, I agree. Which is why I replied how I did on the Spirit board. Thankfully several posters agreed with me. Sadly, several also agreed with the original post.
