Would we be looking at Leach and the future of our program differently if this was a "normal" year and got the chance to beat up on G5 schools 3 or 4 times during the year? (Queue the sky is falling fans claiming we would lose to La Tech and USM this year). If we had a normal schedule, we would likely end the season with 5 or 6 wins in a year where we are implementing an ENTIRELY new system with limited practice opportunities. We're playing SEC teams every single week! 2-4 in the SEC is not far off from a large majority of Miss State seasons in the past and we still have opportunities to win another game or two this year.

Would Leach and the future of our program be viewed differently by the fanbase right now if we would have lost to LSU and beaten Arkansas at the beginning of the year? Somehow, it feels like winning that LSU game was bad for the expectations we've put on Leach in year 1 and we've forgotten what kind of year this was projected to be.

Not even necessarily saying that Leach will end up working out for us in the long run, but the idea that he is already a total failure and there's no chance for future success seems ridiculous at this point. It's not easy defending Mike at this point in time, but I still think there is plenty of opportunity for him to be successful at Mississippi State.

No way this team gets 6 wins even in a normal year. No Vandy win and even the LSU win would be questionable, but I'll give that to us. 3-1 OOC and 1-7 SEC, 4-8 overall. Again, it's not so much the record everyone is pissed about, it's the way the offense is performing.

It's really easy for me to defend Leach. This isn't even a real year.

Whatever football you've seen this year is all for ***** and giggles. They pulled off a miracle to even play to begin with. This year is just like last year but without the non conference opponents. The same players that suck this year also sucked last year. I'm not sure why or how anyone thought it would play out any differently. Throw in no spring practice and here we are. Truthfully among most of Leach's critics, it's what's happening in Oxford that's making them lose their minds. I don't know what's hard to understand they returned quite a bit of talent on offense. Is Kiffin's scheme better than their previous? Of course. But the pieces were in place. Their O-Line has probably been a pleasant surprise but they had some weapons. We don't right now and our biggest weapon we returned, well we know how that ended up.
