That was my thought. I had to miss the second time AState went to Tulsa but went to the first one which for many many years held the distinction of being the last game where a team scored two safeties in a game. AState earned one defensively, and the second when Tulsa's punter played hide n seek in the end zone to burn clock to preserve the lead.

That is not an easy drive, but doable. It is not the blockbuster agreement we would like to see.

US 412 is better than it used to be but runs you through a lot of small towns. Probably faster to go I-40 cut across US64 to US67 many more limited access divided highway miles.

I actually like these drivable games. I hope this is a trend and an end to scheduling with the MAC and the eastern half of CUSA. Those games are lose-lose IMO. We will get some Ark St fans here in Tulsa. I was also impressed with the Texas St game here last year. Their drill team was fantastic. We need teams from neighboring states we recruit like Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Its as simple as that. Instead of scheduling Toledo and BG, we'd have been better off scheduling some of the old Valley teams from the midwest (Missouri St, SIU) IMO.

North Texas/Denton is a very easy drive BTW.

Lawrence, KS is short drive. They recently announced they have open dates in 2016 and 2017.

Would be nice to schedule a Big 12 team we ought to be able to beat.

LAWRENCE

The Kansas football program is no longer scheduled to play a home-and-home series with Hawaii in 2016-17, KU officials confirmed this week.

The Jayhawks originally scheduled a series with Hawaii, in part, to help foster recruiting connections on the islands. Former Kansas coach Charlie Weis had a history of recruiting the state of Hawaii while at Notre Dame.

Kansas now has open football dates in both 2016 and 2017. The Jayhawks' non-conference schedule in 2015 features a season-opening home game against South Dakota State on Sept. 5, a home game against Memphis on Sept. 12, and a trip to Rutgers on Sept. 26.

In 2016, Kansas is set to play host to Ohio and make a return trip to Memphis. In 2017, the Jayhawks will begin a home-and-home series with Central Michigan and make the return trip to Ohio.

Tulsa doesn't have any FCS games scheduled in 2016 or 2017. We have a full non-conference schedule of 4 FBS schools each of those seasons.

I agree Tulsa should approach KU about a home & home series (if we haven't already), but I don't think we can make 2016 & 2017 work.

We've done ourselves very few favors in realm of scheduling the last few years as well as looking ahead... I Agree completely about the ku situation.

Neat a home and home series with a sun belt team that the casual fan could care less about...that the CFB playoff committee could care less about....that no one cares about other than Red Wolf fans.

Win and its a paper win. Lose and its devastating.

Stupid.

When we put around 15-20000 fans in the stands at football games, it's kind of hard to turn down a game to a school that might sell a couple thousand more tickets.

The OU series goes on hiatus after this season, and I can't imagine TU will be pursuing another OU series until 2022 at the earliest.

It seems as though Dr. Gragg's scheduling formula is 1 P5 game, 1 or 2 MWC games, and 1 or 2 Sun Belt/MAC games.

Clearly the 2016 schedule will be the toughest, San Jose has greatly improved and Toledo and Fresno are historically very competitive. Ohio State has a great shot at winning another national championship in 2015.

I think it's great there are no FCS games on the future schedules to date. I would like to see North Texas, UTSA, UTEP, and Rice in-place of Sun Belt/MAC games.

There are a number of MWC schools TU has not recently played or have on the schedule after 2017. Boise State appears to be making an effort to schedule AAC schools.

Wonder how much it costs to buy out of that @Texas State game? We need running room for some better 1 and 1 contracts.

Probably not much, but I doubt TU would do that as games in Texas are great for recruiting efforts. Assuming Coach Monty is still at TU in 3 years, I am sure he wants to play in Texas every chance he gets.

What I find odd about the 2018 schedule is making a trip to South Central Texas back to back weeks. If not buyout the Texas State game, try and move the game since Dr. Gragg seems to be scheduling Sun Belt schools.

We'll also likely be in Houston or DFW once that season.

Between 2018 and 2023, we need 9 home games and only 4 away. It's time to start balancing that out or we'll be looking at a bunch of single game FCS contracts at Skelly.

If you're specifically referring to Clint Conque, he moved up the ladder in the Southland, to the big-time! He is now HC at Stephen F. Austin

lol, that's the guy Graham ran it up on when he yapped his gums about our "smoke & mirrors". Correct?
I believe so. I distinctly remember Gus engineering giving the offense the "hurry-up" signal in the closing minutes. I think Gus wanted to make sure TU won by 30+ more than Graham. I think UCA hung 28-35 points on TU, but Gus made sure his offense did not walk off the field with less than 60 points. I believe the final TU TD occurred in the closing minutes as opposed to running out the clock, When that final TU TD occurred Conque threw his arms up in disgust and started screaming across the field.

UCA had a QB named Brown who was drafted of signed a FA contract in the NFL.
