Anyone else surprised how amazing some teams traveling fanbases are for some of these hoops tournaments.

Anything else to do in Omaha during the late fall but watch Creighton basketball???

If we continue down the path we are going; I will be on some air planes as well. Traveling is great and when you have a program with consistency; whether they win or lose, these are great mini vacations. We haven't had a program in 20 years so I'm excited to go to as many games as possible.
I was at Vegas tournament that RU was in last year, and Creighton brought a lot of fans there as well..
you see it more with basketball only schools...to me I find it amazing that so many RU football fans travel out to places like Ohio State and Michigan State given the state of the program
In November 2005 I traveled with my son to South Padre Island, Texas and it was a fun time. We were pretty good at that time and took third out of 8 teams in the tournament. It would be nice to see us play again in a really good tournament.
How often do we hear this crap? "What else is there to do in ...?" Well there are plenty of things to do. Almost everywhere. It's very, very jingoistic to proclaim how much more there is to do in the NJ area when, in fact, most of us don't do much of any of it and would rather go see Rutgers play someone in something. These people have jobs, families, friends, etc., and don't NEED to go flying off somewhere.
I applaud them for their enthusiasm and envy their ability to do something to show it, without suggesting their hometown is bereft of worthwhile activities. .

Also it is, frankly, true that places like Nebraska have an easier time attracting and holding the interest of fans because there are a relative lack of cultural and entertainment outlets. I do agree that it doesn't need to be pointed out constantly though.
That's a good SAT word for me to add to the list. Personally, I don't give a frogs fat *** where you live as long as you enjoy watching your team play.
Every now and then you get a cool location like a Seattle; but I would travel anywhere to watch Rutgers if I can. I've been to Blacksburg, VA. And went on a bat cave tour when we played the Hokies.
Traveling is fun for some and not for others. You do need money to make it happen and I've been fortunate enough to go to a lot of stuff because I work hard and that's what I enjoy doing.
My ideal retirement will include golf, fishing and going to as many sporting events as I can; specifically Rutgers and mix in some Yankee road trips. The rest will be chilling out and probably typing on this forum.

Never said there was. I replied to the notion of nothing to do. Nobody would compare a place like Omaha to NYC but that doesn't mean there isn't anything to do. You can join the dipshit crowd.
someone is obviously overly sensitive to internet semantics. the fact is, when you compare the nyc area alone to every city and town in nebraska, leaving out all of nj or our ability to make a trip to philly, theres probably more than 10000 more things to do just in nyc.

Didn't mean to offend anyone by my comment which was said with my tongue firmly placed in my cheek. Never being to Omaha I have no idea what there is to do there. I too also admire these people that are able to travel to follow their team to exotic venues.
