Ho hum. McDonnell loses another to UK

Not sure about the Dan McDonnell slam but one thing is for sure, our starting pitching is a work in progress. Missing big Jeff, Chad Green, and Dace Kime not to mention middle reliever Cody Ege among others. I still like this team though.

Honestly the only frustrating thing about Coach Mac is he never has bought into the uk rivalry. But that's what makes him a great coach. He doesn't change his philosophy just to try and win a game on the road that only matters to the fans, most of who more than likely aren't there or even watching. It sucks to lose to uk in anything but its pretty damn nice to still be playin in June while they are on summer break.
Besides, we usually get them when they come here and there are actually UofL fans in attendance.

People just don't realize until it is a conference game or a weekend series, the game just doesn't have that much significance. He cannot change his rotation, especially now given we have been struggling to find a 3rd weekend guy. Pitchers have to have a routine and its not as simple as saying, Ok Funk just go out there and throw 1-2 innings. Was does that accomplish? If he goes a complete game, yeah we might beat UK, but you lose him for the weekend and then he doesn't pitch again until the following weekend? Talking about screwing up a routine.

Obviously his priorities are not in beating UK. What a miserable record he has agianst them and I don't expect them to get any better until he is gone.
Obviously, his goal is to make postseason appearances and get to the CWS. Since he has done that and if he continues to do that, he will the coach at UL! But yes, I would like for him to put more emphasis on the UL-UK rivalry. Unlike football, there are a lot of great baseball players in Kentucky. I guess he doesn't think that losing to UK affects recruiting.
