The huge DR fans won't particularly like this, but it tells a story.

2021 DR in TX, given the job without ever throwing a pass.
2022 DR in AZ New school, same story.
2023 DR in GA, transferred in immediately handed the keys.
Signed with and withdrew from both Georgia and Ohio State.
Signed with NU, given the job without throwing a pass.

He's never had to compete for the starting job, why leave GA and OSU when he would have to compete.
Why no push for him to try to win the job from WIll Howard or Carson Beck?

Metric Raiola (8 1/2 games) Lateef (1 game)
Time to throw 3.1 sec avg 1.9 sec avg (PFF)
Sacks taken 28 (3.1 per game) 0
Yards per designed run 1.1 6.8
3rd down conversions 38% 62%
Explosive plays 4.2 per game 7
Deep ball accuracy 38.7% (12/31 on 20+ yard throw) Unknown
Longest completion 42 yards on a YAC to EJ ++
Under pressure 41.2%, 4 INT's, 5 fumbles obvious

Dannen doesn't care who starts, he cares who wins. Dannen doesn't care who the QB is. He cares that the best one plays, and the money follows. Dannen is here to monetize the program, to awaken a sleeping giant. His objective will be a transparent QB competition next year and may the best man win. Are there portal issues that can result? Yes.

Matt's career has been about survival, he doesn't make changes until it threatens his survival. He panicked last year after UCLA and brought in Dana. He has a problem with Donovan Raiola because he fears the Raiola name.

Ummm....ok.

I don't think Dylan will be a Husker next year.

Think he ends up at Georgia or Ohio State where his talents can be showcased.

I mean, that is what I would do if I was his father.

Any way it shakes out we went from arguing about the 3 garbage QBs we had in Rhule's first year here to having 2 good QBs who can win games and lead the team. Throw Trae into the mix and we are set at QB for the next 4 plus years. Light years from where we were.
Correct. We can go from another year of an immobile QB, to our true nature of having dual threat QB's.

I think in college football the days of the DJ Uekielel and DR are long past with the speed of the rush ends and an immobile QB.

I see our line getting better with a few additions enough to make a pocket raiola can work from...this will be on one burner
then lateef will have his set of plays, on another burner
so we will have a passing qb working with a pass/run qb with no diva behavior, none!
each will have their chances to shine and yet not be killed by carrying the whole load.
then both will head to the nfl when appropriate.
we are leaving the rebuild stage and entering the football factory stage,
repeat after me...reload not rebuild

so we are all on the same page

We need to worry about the defense more than the offense, imo.

Stockton is a Jr. at Georgia and would likely be staying out and odds-on starter next year.

DR is already the starter. He won the starting job. He was 6-2 before injury. 6-3 post injury. TJ has had one game against an inferior team. His play was limited to quick passes or run. We handed off to EJ a lot. All done by design. To limit his choices to limit his mistakes. Barring an inability to come back from injury, he'll be #1QB when he returns.

disagree. Football factories aren't rated # 35 in the country.

well I would'nt spend much time argueing with that.
I'd like to see the dline coaches and linebacker coaches explain themself a bit more.
like how does 0&9 leave and we ain't reloading?

where are these linebackers plugging the holes of our 3 man dline?

and how are we developing a pass rush?

He was given the job. They could have designed the same quick pass concepts for Dylan which could have minimized his mistakes.

This is more on Rhule. They panic signed Davis when he threatened the portal. Texas Tech spent 7 million on their defensive line alone. We either wouldn’t do it or don’t have it.

I agree, as a dad I would do whatever is in my son's best interest. It looks like both GA and OSU already have their QB's for next year in Sayin and Stockton.

That leaves teams like USC, Miami and a couple other potential sites. I don't believe FSU is in that mix cause I think they found with DJ. Ugelieli that a statue won't work. This on the heels of DJ already being at Clemson (a disaster) and Oregon State prior to his going to FSU.

I'm sure there are some schools out there that would fit DR, should he transfer.

If you look at the potential payroll with DR, TJ, EJ, Pritchett, Nwarnie assuming EJ and Pritchett return, that takes a pretty big bite. What is leftover for a premium OT, and a couple premium Down Linemen?

I'm not advocating he leaves, I'd just like to see a legitimate battle for the job. Then the best man wins.
There is no such thing in modern college football. One guy gets paid, the others play for free. Lateef is winning games for free, while Dylan is making 2 million to sit in a cast. The coaches must choose their qb relatively early so they know the amount of NIL to spend on other positions. The next two games will be really important to Lateef staying as a husker...he has to be really great to unseat Dylan, as cutting him after paying him 2 million will "look bad" to other similar type of qbs. Some programs can withstand cutting good qbs and getting that reputation, I don't think NU is in that category. Imagine cutting Dylan, Lateef gets hurt or struggles...we at least know what we are getting with Dylan, but 3 games with Lateef isn't going to be enough of a sample size.

DR is not going anywhere. Stop talking like that. He's going to be our number one unless he can't come back from injury.

So, a little OT. But they are playing the Canadian Premier League Championship between Ottawa and Calgary in Ottawa on FS2. There’s a fierce blizzard. At least four inches of snow covering the pitch.

Players AND the ump in bare arms and legs.

It’s 1-1 at regulation. So they’re taking a forty-minute break while they snowplow the entire pitch. They’re calling the plow a soccer Zamboni.

Everything inside the six-yard box was like bad-dream slow motion. lol!!!!

Greatest sports spectacle since forever.

3 of Oregon’s starting O linemen are portal additions this season. We need to be able to develop our own to get better IMO. Maybe get a guy or two if we can but I don’t think buying 3 guys year in and year out is a sustainable business model

I expect there to be a QB competition but the question might become whether or not we can afford to pay TJL what it takes to keep him. IF he balls out these next few games he’ll have huge offers.
