Young, Jersey ties, affordable, NFL experience, great recruiter, one of the best coordinators in the game right now and will be a head coach sooner than later! Time to stop trying to recapture the past glory some believe Schiano brought to RU. He was and still is horrible at real time game adjustments and got out coached on way too many occasions.

He has lukewarm interest at best
That's nonsense. He hasn't even sniffed any head coaching job - let alone a P5 job in the Big Ten. If offered, he'd sprint to Piscataway - but I sure as heck don't want him. If he's been so good - then why has nobody hired him after being in coaching for over a decade.

The fun thing about throwing a name out there is he has to want to come here. Why would he come him?

Do we have evidence that Nunzio is a good recruiter or is that assumed given his north jersey hs background?

Do we know that Rutgers and GS have in fact reopened negotiations? I have not seen anything to confirm that other than some expressed interest in doing so.

Hafley has little interest in this job. He might have been interested at one time, but with the way he's seen RU handle things, he really isn't any longer.[/QUOTE
Lol absolute nonsense - this guy has zero head coaching offers and he's going to be picky if he got a Big Ten offer? Lol.

This. He was interested at one point. His interest has faded.

Hey SCILS02, believe what you want. This was discussed on the premium side several days ago...and his interest is minimal, if that.

Well let me know when Hafley gets a P5 head coach offer then - we'll be waiting for several years, if ever. Apparently, he's not good enough for a head coaching job with MAC, AAC or Conf. USA either.

Hafley will probably get a head coaching job offer, could have even been here shortly after Ash was booted. But as I mentioned, with the public cluster f*ck Rutgers has made out of this search, his interest has pretty much been snuffed out.

Maybe we should wait until after the season to proclaim that?

Hafley is the type of guy that slides into a good G5 heard coaching spot, ups his resume and gets a very good P5 job.

If he got a G5 job and after 3 years left for a good power 5 job that it will take another say 2 years to turn into a solid program... that’s at least 5 years until he is in a good spot

Or

He can get a Big Ten job at Rutgers and have them at a high level in 5 years.

The second scenario would earn him more money, save his family from uprooting one extra time and allow him to be a hometown hero.

Hafley has little interest in working for Hobbs and a university who is trying to compete in the East Division on the cheap. No point coming here trying to build your resume if you can't get the support necessary to win.

Don't blame RU if it turns out that nj.com is full of crap about Schiano's "new" negotiations--better not have been fake news

No. You're wrong. He is not that interested at this point, primarily because of what happened with Schiano. Same reason A. Camp isn't interested.

Like Spanky wrote , especially if he talked to Greg. Think Greg gave him a great report on Hobbs?

Not even a sole coordinator, much less one of the best. Good call. Next idea?

I can see some deference as well perhaps a unfavorable report from Greg as reasons for his lack of interest. The first can be overcome but the second will be more difficult.

He’s holding out for Kent St. The cradle of College Coaches. Or is that Miami of Ohio? Lol.

A lot of great head coaches got their start in the MAC. Saban, Meyer , Bo, Woody, Ara, even Rowtheboat.
