Hurley was really impressed with him after game 1. Said he thought he was best rookie big man in BE. Similarities to Reed.

If it happens, so much for his ...... whatever..... for Holloway and the Hall.

Makes lots of sense to me but let's wait and see how it all shakes out.

I would not be surprised if Danny and Sha talked about Hines and Sha being supportive, he gave Danny the inside info on Hines to seal the deal.

They all tamper. Even us. At least via intermediaries.

Correct, I guess for me its one thing to know a kid is gone and another thing to initiate the process of poaching kids particularly mid season? Do they all do that as well? I'd hope not but I'm not sure the % is higher than I'd like.

Pretty sure Kimani has a job on the Uconn staff principally for stuff like this, like others do on other staffs, including ours. It’s all in the game, to quote another HBO show. Everyone does it, and if you start going through the mental gymnastics of trying to distinguish one instance from another, it becomes silly. Hell our HC got caught doing this as an AC here with TT and Cuse.

The conference needs to re-implement the rules it used to have about not being able to transfer to a conference school without a 2 year sit out.

If rich programs can buy the best players from their conference foes, it will destroy the parity that makes teams improve and protects the actual level of competition in conference play.
It will be like a sporting event in which Kim Jong Un is a contestant. Or UConn & St. Johns will be the Harlem Globe Trotters while the rest of the league will be variants of the Generals.

They can implement it, but these rules no longer stand up in court.

If Hurley never reached out to Hines' people like Pitino did before he went into the portal I have no issue with him going to UConn.

Aint happening with transfer rule in conference and nor should it. That would put schools in the Big East at a disadvantage nationally. NCAA can’t even do a broad transfer limitation rule.

Yankees and Red Sox were the Harlem Globetrotters to rest of AL East for 3 decades. Survival of the fittest when there is no cap on spending.

The Golden Boy may not be looking so golden right now.

No doubt Hurley is a prick, but can’t blame him in this case. His job is to improve his team by all means.

And to quote the great philosopher Norm Peterson: “It’s a dog eat dog world and I don’t want to be caught wearing Milkbone underwear.”

I have a bridge to sell in Brooklyn if you believe UCONN did not reach out to Hines during the season.

Portal ain’t played that way. Hurley is no Saint. And his assistant Young, who has a very scrupulous past, is no choirboy

I have no idea or doubt that contact was made. It’s an open market and everything is in play. I don’t fault Hurley.

Come on, you cannot seriously believe that to be true? I understand the dynamic you are wrestling with here and that you don't think Hurley will ever take a Hall transfer, and maybe you end up being right. But if he goes to Uconn, this is no different than if he went to SJU, and no different than Richmond. That may be upsetting for many here and the various narratives folks spin, but it won't be for those who have accepted the reality of this absurd portal NIL world.

You do understand what the word IF means, right?

Does it matter "IF" they did or not? Everyone is going to assume that they did once he commits there. It's like the old days whenever we were in contention for a top flight recruit. "IF" the kid chose to commit elsewhere then those who drank the SHU kool aid would say it was because the other school gave him a big bag of money.

I wouldn't be shocked if someone from Uconn reached out to Hines before the season ended but there is a difference between him & Kadary, who was a fully developed, all Big East player.
