Future University of Virginia recruits Christian Lowry and Connor Eason teamed up at the plate and the mound to help the Hickory Hawks defeat their former Southeastern District rival Great Bridge 11-4. Eason walked four of the first seven batters he faced before hitting his groove in completing six innings of work. He finished with seven strikeouts while allowing only two hits. Eason walked four and allowed one earned run.

Lowry scored three runs from the leadoff position with two doubles and a homerun. Freshman Mikey Polansky carried the big stick for the Hawks with four RBI, four hits, and a homerun. He drove in the first two runs with a double down the right field line then added an RBI single in the fourth that gave Hickory an 8-2 lead. Polansky has already committed to join his brother Stephen Polansky at Virginia Tech.

Hickory extended the lead to 11-2 with back-to-back homeruns in the fifth. Jarrett Mustin belted a 2-run homerun scoring Lowry who doubled, and Polansky followed with a homerun to left-center. Mustin, wearing #2 and hitting from the 2-hole, was 2 for 2 from the plate with two walks, two runs scored and two RBI.

Great Bridge scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull within 11-4. Radford commit Colby Higgerson drove in two runs with a single off relief pitcher Cody Schneider. The Wildcats finished with only threw hits but drew five walks.
