Read the rule book. You can't call time out once the other team inbounds the ball. He's clearly too late. But sorry you had to endure an epic Kentucky win. That must suck for you.
Tried and failed. Next up….Iowa State.
Underrated commentNobody cares
The whole internet is pissed off we won today. Good. Screw 'em.How many threads do we need about this? Can't call a timeout once a UK player has the ball.
Instead of a timeout he should've been screaming at his guys to foul up three with such little time left.
I'm not happy with how our season has went. I'm not happy that this game was much closer than I predicted. I'm not seeing much that has me excited for the future (that can change depending on how recruiting and portaling turns out). Watching that game I didn't feel like either team could beat Iowa State. What I'm not going to do, though, is apologize for winning this one after so much seems to go against us. I contend that apologizing and being soft is why UK athletics has been in rough shape in both major sports. And by the way, I still want Mark Pope to tell Greg Sankey to kiss his *** on that bogus fine!
Not sorry, Cinderella, the slipper doesn't fit.
Nobody cares
Exactly. If it was reversed and Pope was the one trying to call timeout, they would still be celebrating and laughing at us for making excuses, telling us to look at the rule book, etc.The whole internet is pissed off we won today. Good. Screw 'em.
NoIsn't it too late to call the TO the moment a UK player picks up the ball to inbound it?
To set his defenseNot for sure why he would have needed or wanted a time out. Every coach goes through this scenario 100 times during practices.
Well then let's forfeit, apologize to Sendek, and allow Santa Clara to play Iowa State instead. To set his defense
Someone correct me if I wrong here, but I believe the rule is you have until the ball makes it to inbounders hands to call a timeout. At that point you no longer have possession and can't call a timeout. Pretty sure we got the ball in the inbounders hands to quick for him to get a timeout.
He was too late, once the UK player had the ball to inbound, Herb did not have the ability under the rules to call so called time out, tell Herb to go look it up. If he wanted a time out he should have called it right when the ball passed thru the net.
That isnt how it works. It is a dead ball until it is available to be in-bounded. Once Aberdeen grabbed the ball it was available to be inbounded. The timing rule of the clock starting is not relevant.Regardless, you can call a TO during a dead ball. The clock is stopped till touched inbounds.
You’re the worst poster on this board.Kentucky lost the game. A technicality and SCs abject stupidity in not fouling saved us but in everyone's mind it's another embarrassing defeat and an indictment of the phys ed teacher on the sidelines
No, that is not the rule. It has been explained multiple times in the various threads.Someone correct me if I wrong here, but I believe the rule is you have until the ball makes it to inbounders hands to call a timeout. At that point you no longer have possession and can't call a timeout. Pretty sure we got the ball in the inbounders hands to quick for him to get a timeout.
