My daughter is breaking family tradition and attending your fine University next fall. I will say y'all are doing a great job recruiting kids from Memphis. We (Ole Miss) are not!
My question is what is the best restaurant in Starkville? I am coming to orientation this summer and will be visiting often and have not been to Starkville in a long time. Thanks in advance.

For my money, Restaurant Tyler is easily the finest food in town. It's located on Main Street...can't miss it...enjoy!

Petty's is the greatest establishment in the world. BBQ sandwiches unbelievable, but they do it all well. Ribs, burgers, brisket, etc. But if you're talking fine dining, refer to the above. Cappes is best steak in town to me, but you think you're gettin a better one at veranda or Tyler's because of price and attire. Umi's is great.

you can get a salad and a coke for $12 but wanna eat right with some wine with your date and you're paying a $100. Great food and atmosphere though so it's money well spent. Go at lunch time and the blue plate is only $8. I could eat there everyday.

I've tried grits at many other restaurants and they aren't good to me. For whatever reason, Tyler's are great.

It was funnier when the above post was duplicated (obviously by mistake). Now I just look like an ***. Mon mal.

Eat at the Veranda. I haven't been back in a while, but I have never had a bad meal there. Not sure if they still have the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings, but you will literally slap your mother.

I live in Starkville and its the only "rehstrunt" (as the Kang says) that isconsistentlygood. You'll get a bunk meal from time to time at the others.

Not my kind of steak. The Veranda has the best steak hands down and better overall food to me. Dave's is my favorite place in town to go though. I don't get the Restaurant Tyler love. Y'all must know Ty or something because I've eaten there several times and it was just average.

It's hard for the drinking crowd to get out that way at 1:30 in the morning though.

I'm bad white and back in the day (circa 1999) when there was the Petty's next to the police station, he would offer me and my friends free beer every time we went. He would serve us our food and just point to the fridge. It was a full sizerefrigeratorstuffed with as many Bud heavy cans as you could put in one. I never got one inclination of racism from him. Now I will say he has double in price since then.

Which I'm good with, because The Grill doesn't exist anymore. There's just some place with nowhere near enough televisions, mediocre food, and awesome cheese sticks in an old train depot downtown. It might be called Harveys, or at least it acts like it. It definitely isn't a college sports bar with awesome cheese sticks and mediocre food. I miss The Grill.

to them or not but I'm going to assume it has become corporate. All corporate restaurants originally started as amazing restaurants until they become corporate. I'd bet the very first Applebee's was originally an amazing restaurant.

Having worked at Cappe's and Cappe being a good friend of mine I can assure you that they do not use Dale's. They don't put anything on the meat until it hits the grill. BEST steak in town, hands down.
