The spring football portal officially “reopens” on Monday. Do we have any scholarships available? I would imagine offensive line and defensive line are our biggest needs.

The bigger question is whether the roster has stabilized and we are able to go into the portal and get talent that can contribute. Recruiting over players is certainly suboptimal, but we can always use an extra body on the line. I would think we will see a departure/signing on both interior lines. Maybe two.

Huff,

I am a little surprised by the low numbers of players entering the portal. Very low compared to last year. I did not see any new TU players in the portal.

We’ll see.

Let’s wait until grades come out and diplomas are awarded. But yeah, you are right, no high profile immediate transfers upon spring camp breaking is encouraging.

Is that the trend across college football?

Well well, the spring transfer portal has come alive. Willie Fritz has wasted little time in tidying up a dirty house, among others.

What do all of our football portal transfers that have someplace to go already decided, have in common with one exception? They are all going to former conference mates.

TCU, Marshall, Uconn, Utep, Houston & Nevada.

Marshall & Houston being the place where 6 of our players went.😮 Guess those guys wanted a more rigorous academic environment where the classes were more demanding.

Meyers to Penn St seems to be the only exception.

How many scholies are available? Football after players leaving?

I wouldn’t lump TCU and UConn into that group. Both are top 100 national universities.

My Depth chart got blown to heck recently. I had to recreate it due to my windows having to be reinstalled and MS Word f'ing it up. Definitely 5, could be much as 10. I figure somewhere around 7 or 8. But I can't count on my chart for accuracy at this point.
