The TV Brass loves the SEC. TV, radio and print journalist do not even try to hide their East Coast Bias
That is why the playoff was a joke to start with. Either incorporate conference championships into the system (i.e., you only qualify if you win one) or get rid of the them and expand the playoff to 8. The playoff system has solved absolutely nothing in its current form. People still ***** about it just like they did with the BCS and just like they did before the BCS. Literally no difference at all. People moaned about sports writers and coaches picking the winners but what you have now is exactly the same thing with a much smaller voting membership. Just silly.
It ain't perfect, but it is better. I don't think you remember when #1 would play #4 in the Orange bowl, and #2 would play #7 in the Rose bowl, and they would both win. Talk about a beauty contest. At least now, #1 is settled on the field.
8 teams might be better, but not without controversy. More than 8 is overkill. I don't think conf champs should get automatic bids. I think there was a 7-5 KSU team than ended up the Big 12 champion some years ago. I would hate for that team to keep out a true contender.
