Re: Handley's new head coach is an Handley/UVA alumn
Handley did get it right, Coach Milburn, even if it took a very long time to get this finalized. Why such a wait, I wonder? Did Lilly have a short list? Anyone know?
Patrick will do just fine and he is the right guy to get this team headed in a positive direction. He's been able to soak in a lot of valuable info on how to coach the game the right way the last few years as an assistant on the staff of one of the best baseball coach ever to come out of the Winchester area, Shenandoah U coach Kevin Anderson.
Wingfield played at UVa for four years and started full-time his junior year as a third baseman. Patrick is a soft-spoken type of guy but I really believe he will get the respect of his players early on and do good things at Handley for years to come. He is young (27) but he will do fine. If Handley can ever get any quality pitching to come through, it will again be able to finish up with more wins than losses. Easy to say, I know, but I have a feeling it will happen eventually.
Best wishes ... Coach Wingfield. Oh, he also is a Handley grad (Class of 2004).
