sitting on our bench not playing or beating us in the tournament on another team. I'm not happy with the situation with him but it beats the other alternative.

That makes no sense.

Id rather have him playing when we need him. Last night got very close. Had we lost that game and he didn’t play? Cal would be facing some ridiculously valid hard questions today.

so your saying Indiana, Louisville or other schools would bury him on their bench just to protect his draft status. Unreal.

I get the sentiment. But it requires a ton of assumptions.

First we have to agree he wants to play, would play, and Cal is just not allowing him to.

So if that really is the scenario, which we have no evidence of, then yes it's better to have him sitting on our bench than playing for another program we could possible have to face in the NCAAs.

If it is a choice between him playing the rest of this year or returning next year then let him sit(he has said he will be here next year) Having players show up mid season is a bad idea at UK because it is all about the draft. We learned that from the Diallo case, we also learned that Cal is more than willing to make the same mistake over and over again. He should have learned from Spock that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few(or in this case the needs of the team outweigh the needs of the player)

No way this is even remotely serious! So sit the bench at UK, or actually play and beat UK for another team in March, because the opposing coach would play him?

Im leaving Earth! Bye guys👋🏻

OP makes perfect sense. If Sharpe was at any other school he would be playing right now.
I’ve been agitated about K slapping Cal around in recruiting and losing to Zion and Banchero lead Duke teams. But would Cal have played either one here or protected their draft status?

I guarantee if at UK, Zion wouldn’t have returned after blowing his shoe out. I honestly didn’t expect him to play again at Duke.

Shaedon Sharpe is NOT ready. How hard is that to comprehend? Signs are he is getting there. It wouldn't bother me one bit if he didn't play til SEC Tournament. He will play.
Cal has never had a team like this before here at KY. To predict what he is going to do is stupid. We are experienced and players are getting better.

Go Cats!

It would be absolutely outrageous to actually wait until March to play the guy. Are you kidding me right now?

I understand not throwing him in against Auburn. We beat TN by 28. He couldn’t even play 2 minutes in that game?

If he doesn't play this year how can anyone not believe that is the case?
I think its pretty simple. Cal recruited Sharpe as a normal recruit in the class of 22 and excepted him to play next year when he committed to us. Sharpe then decided he wanted to move up and join us early and in that sense you could say that it was unlikely for him to play for us after that but im sure he and his camp were telling Cal all the right things about how he was still going to play. If your Cal in that situation, when Sharpe calls you and tells you he wants to reclass and join the team, you cant say no, because there was/is still a chance that he might play for us.

I agree that it could have happened that way, if it did and he is still here next season it is all good. All that being said I don't see anything to prevent him from playing now.
My concern is that he leaves at season's end without ever having played a game(which is what Diallo would have done if he had been promised a higher draft slot.

In the interest of full disclosure I have no confidence that Cal's top priority is the welfare of the UK basketball program.

Well, since he's actually said as much in the past, I'd say that is a fair assumption.

He wasn't ready, he is a high school kid. There is a pecking list and Dante is basically the last man up. Cal is setting it up. If Dontaie played with his head up his butt like he has been, you would of seen him last night. He did not, he played great. We need that Dontaie. After everyone was complaining last year about playing Boston and Askew to get the kinks out. Askew couldn't even throw a bounce pass. I'm glad he's waiting to he is ready. Damned if you do and Damned if you dont.

Why would he sit on our bench but play elsewhere?

Do you even think before you type?
