Gus Johnson mini rant

Just gonna say something about the game yesterday. Is anyone else annoyed whenever Gus Johnson is calling literally ANY game, not just ours? Dude is a human blowhorn everytime a team gets a first down. As a viewer, you are guaranteed at least a dozen times a game of Gus sounding like a bad porn actor. He is still better than Beth Mowens but the point remains. Settle down Gus. You are good in interviews on sportstalk, but you are going to cause me to go insane if I have to continue listening to you call games.

I liked when he started talking about how he has never seen a performance like Sims in his life. He put words to Husker Nations mindset in the moment

He's annoying overall, and he did gush on Colorado quite a bit, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be after that TCU game.

I'm a big fan of Gus. It's not his fault that Nebraska has played poorly in recent games that he's called of theirs. If they played better, he'd praise them as much as he did Sanders yesterday. Colorado's earned their praise so far this year while Nebraska hasn't really had much of anything praise worthy.

His rant about our QB play was well deserved and parroted my own thoughts.

"He is still better than Beth Mowens"

I believe I'm one of the few who likes Beth doing a game. She actually calls the game and keeps you aware of personnel changes, which is a lot more than I can say of many broadcasters.

He sucks. Can’t see the field or pronounce players names.
What is his job again?

I can't stand listening to her because her voice is the equivalent of getting kicked in the balls repeatedly. She sounds like an old-timey bad actress doing an impression of what it sounds like when fingernails scrape across a chalkboard. That is what I hear every time she speaks.

I used to watch, & listen to, football to get away from women squawking. Not so easy anymore.

The downside of every game being televised is a dilution of the announcer pool. The days of Howard Cosell or even Chris Brown and Kirk Herbstreit are long gone. If you took a Broadcast Journalism 201 class in college, you're qualified to be a game announcer.

Gus Johnson gets worse every season. It's too bad because his color guy Joel Klatt is one of the best.

It was pure comedy the way he somehow packaged Nebraska to be a juggernaut before the game started. Klatt is a truth teller and complimentary to Nebraska overall, moreso than we deserve, and even he was biting his lip.

It's all drama , then we get some our fans blaming them for selling them BS. I actually read that yesterday...I'm still in shock.

He likened Nebr-Colo rivalry to OSU-Mich / Ala-Aub/ Okla-Tex. Talk about dramatization.

Gus Johnson and Klatt are literally the best combo you can have for a game.

Johnson is THE best for big games.

I can remember a call right now that he made that gives me chills every time I hear it.

I've felt this way for a few years. I think he was a bit better during the Minnesota game. I just can't stand that he treats a 5 yard gain almost the same as an 80 yard td. I'm fine with it during an actual big play.

The TV crew including Gus gave praise to the defense. All of them said or indicated the D deserved more from the offense. I think we can agree. If you don't like Gus turn down the sound and listen to the husker stream

That's because he's still a bit conflicted about his love affair with the " world famous, Thee Ohio State Buckeyes!"

I love Gus, but not sure I’d love him without Joel as his partner. They compliment each other really well. I think they’re the college football version of Aikman and Joe Buck.

There is no gray area with Gus you either like him or don’t. Personally i can’t stand him then you add babbling klatt it becomes unbearable. For the money fox is paying you would think they’d hire the best and Gus sure isn’t

If we would have been worth a **** when he calls our games then he would get excited for us. I can’t believe people get upset about announcing when the product melts down.

I had a separate post talking about the things I liked about our team. I certainly have my thoughts on the negatives. My Gus post was about how he is a spaz. In a couple months watch a big bowl game he is calling. It certainly won't be us. Now tell me five minutes in if it was necessary for Gus to **** himself when the Alabama receiver catches a twenty yard pass. It will happen though. Over and over. Now back to all your Husker hate. Good day sir.

I'm not a husker hater just calling out the obvious, we don't all share the same opinion of Gus Johnson like you. Curious to know who you like as a broadcast team because Gus and Joel Klatt are solid and at the top.

I honestly don't even pay attention to who is calling games. They are usually mostly invisible to me unless they have a spazzy/grating demeanor. I was an early hater of Romo when everyone else loved him. Dude is a dork and a spaz. I don't remember who the Husker commentator was when Eric Crouch caught the TD pass against Oklahoma, but their call was tragic. It was a grown man screaming unintelligible garbage followed by him saying Crouch's name. Thanks for that bit of info bro.

A GREAT call would be the radio call when Alex Henery kicked the 57 yarder to take the lead against Colorado many years ago. The leadup was beautiful. I was driving down the road listening to it and got to hear it live and I knew everything that was happening and knew EXACTLY when it was good. Kevin Kugler is another guy I like calling games. He is very calm and calls the game perfectly IMO.
