Will always remember that night. I was born after the 70's National Titles and my memories of National titles and bowls in the 80's and early 90's were of Miami curb stomping us on there field. To finally break through on there field and silence mouthy ******** like Sapp and Ray Lewis to get T.O his first National Title always brings a smile to my face!!:Cool:Smokin:)

If I remember correctly but I was only 10 in 1972 orange bowl, but I believe bama did a lot of talking before that game also, johnny musso was going to run all over the black shirts, that's why during the game rich glover caught mussso for like a 5 yard loss while glover was getting up he patted Musso on the ***, basically telling him not on my watch

Actually, from all that I have read about him, Sapp is actually a really nice guy with a great sense of humor. Yeah, he was a big talker in college, but in my view he backed it up. Best defensive tackle of his era and probably second or third best all time. Suh, of course, being the greatest of all time.

But hell yeah. That is a great pic!

I was just thinking the other day when they would go to the bowl games and trucks full of Husker Power weights would be driven to the sights. That was way ahead of the day. Guess that showed in those days they lifted all the time, right up to game day. Now I suppose even the smaller colleges have good weight facilities.

This picture right here should be up in our weight room for the players to see and motivate them...

You know if I can buy it framed anywhere?

I would check with a guy named Rick Anderson and there is another guy who took the picture of this gentleman in Boulder in 1995 who holding up #1 sigh with his hands and they had a thing on Face book with him in Lincoln for the Colorado game with the picture in Boulder in his hand..

I can't seem to find the video anymore, but there is an interview with Cory Schlesinger about something Warren Sapp wrote in his autobiography about Schlesinger's block on the opening kickoff of the 1995 Orange Bowl. Saw it posted a few months ago. Schlesinger said it was his favorite moment of the OB, even over his two fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Yeah, when we won the 1994 title I thought that this was MY first title. I was too young to really appreciate the 70/71 championships.

I’ve been Old enough to appreciate them all and proud that all of them went unbeaten and left no doubt..

I'm a bit younger than you two. 1994 was the first title I was alive for, only 8 at the time. My first lasting football memory was Boston College hitting the FG in 1993 to beat Notre Dame (which I was told had major implications for Nebraska but didn't make sense to me at the time), then the 1994 OB against Florida State. I was hooked after that, and the 1994 season was a tremendous whirlwind in general, let alone for the first time paying attention to the team. I was spoiled in that my earliest Husker football memories are those of success, even if the FSU game was technically a loss but very impressive.

I know there is a poster on here that has uploaded a ton of old games to YouTube, and to him I owe a sincere thank you. It is great being able to watch entire games from before I was cognizant (or alive) to understand the context of our 1990s success (rather than just seeing highlights).

Man we were animals... Will we ever get close to that again on defense? One can still hope...
The 50 second mark in that video when Troy Dumas goes high and Donte Jones goes low and basically snaps the Wyoming QB in half is an all time great shot. The look on his face when his facemask is rearranged is priceless!!

It’s nice to watch these old clips and say ‘I wish our D would play like that’ etc
But if they played like that today, they would all be ejected by halftime.RollingLaugh
.

Yep, a whole lotta launching going on! Guys were flying to the ball then. Now we have to sneak up on them.

Can you imagine the damage that kind of talent could do to college defenses today? It would be like a sheep vs a pack of wolves.
