I am so proud of this team today. After they got down early by double digits, they could have mailed it in, but Eatman (great job btw) wouldn't have any of that. Today the '55' WAS the reason we got back into this game and also what got our offense going today.

Right now the two players that are the biggest reason for the last three wins have to be Arella and Tekia. I love both of their games. Arella is the table setter and scorer that is dependable and consistent. Tekia is just a whirlpool of energy and gets her teammates pumped up. Also not to take anything away from Tekia's offense, because she has been instrumental in scoring as well. Kudos also to the outside shooting of our guards Broughton, Calhoun and Wilson especially in the late third quarter but especially in the 4th quarter knocking down those big threes. One big shout out today to Zippy. She scored 19 points and had a terrific overall game.

In watching this game from start to finish, it was nice to see in the second half the officials letting both teams play and not calling the ticky-tack BS fouls they were calling on Rutgers in the first half. From the 3rd quarter on, we showed we were more talented than OSU as well as more aggressive. We really turned up the defense and rattled them.

One last comment: I was really shocked that the baseline official didn't T up their freshman guard, number 3 after she stared down one of our players after she made the bucket. That was beyond obvious and I couldn't understand why it wasn't called, because the official was looking right at her when it happened.

In sum, I think our women need to stay in the '55' from now on from the B1G tourney to the NCAA's. It seems like a real motivator to get this teams' engine revved up. Congrats ladies. Way to finish strong!

This is the never give up spirit that I saw in this team before all of the personnel chaos of recent weeks. Coach Eatman is doing a great job keeping these kids motivated. Now they have 4 days to get ready for the tournament. Go Knights!

I also want to shout out Stasha Carey. Not a great game from her offensively, but she was huge defensively down the stretch--big rebounds, a massive block, and she drew at least three charges in the second half that were all huge for the team.

I only was able to check in on the game a couple of times before the final. I was worried after the halftime score, but then when I checked in again in the 3rd, I saw RU was on a big run - they literally scored three baskets in the minute I was looking at the score - and thought the first half might not tell the tale.

Knighted, once the officials stopped calling ticky-tacky fouls against us, our '55' especially in the second half (3rd quarter) really rattled OSU and our offense really picked up until we made up for the deficit and by the end of the 3rd quarter we were only down 2. Then when we finally went ahead in the 4th quarter we kept the pressure on and OSU was cooked.

I have to admit that I was tempted to turn the game off after there terrible start. Glad I watched it to the end. A lot of sloppy play from both teams, as evidenced by the number of turnovers and fouls. That said, it was a hard fought/entertaining contest.

Has been pressing all 40 minutes

I haven’t watched a lot of games but I am pretty sure we weren’t doing that in most/any games before Stinger’s leave of absence.

Does anyone here know if we have played a full 40 of 55 before these past 3 games?

IMO, we must continue doing this for all games here on out (unless we get into serious foul trouble).

We don’t have the half court offense to win against high scoring teams.
Our 55 generates probably half of our offense.

I think the emergence of T Baby is allowing this press to flourish. She guards the inbound pass and does so with INCREDIBLE energy and emotion.
She reminds me of Essence Carson if I recall correctly as a focal point of the press.

I loved Eatman’s comments after the Wisconsin game where he said we were going to press as soon as WI got off the bus.

I really wonder if CViv gave the instructions to do this, or is this being done by the current coaches?

It is FUN to watch.
And it is KEY to our success.

I also want to say Zippy has emerged as a very solid and confident player.

I know this is due to CC’s dismissal.

Hate to say anything bad about CC, but maybe this combination / lineup just works better for us.

Or maybe it is the fact we are playing 55 the entire game, and if CC was still here, we would still be having the same success.

Regardless, we obviously have lost some depth and fouls to give, but it’s rolling right now, and this extra playing time will probably prove to be extremely beneficial to Zippy going forward.
I know some were questioning how she would work out in our system. Well, if we keep the current system, I’d say she will do just fine!

1 more thought.

I think the approach the team and players have taken in response to the loss of our 2 players is NEXT MAN (WOMAN) UP.

Without those losses, my guess is T Baby and Zippy don’t get any real traction until next season.

Since they are both young, and doing great, it really makes me excited for the future.
Add in the stud shooter from Baylor and Davenport?

Yeah, keep it rolling this year and into the future, ladies!!

I hope the success of the ladies recently will generate more traffic and positive discussion on the board (just like we see on the men’s board with the Fighting Pikes taking names).

Man, it feels really good to be a Rutgers fan now.
And what makes me extremely happy is the fact I am saying this in MARCH!!!

Whenever I listened to post game comments from CVS about pressing she always seemed to indicate that she does not press more because of the wear and tear on the players. Especially, the player on the point that has to do a lot of running....you need to rotate two in that spot.

Good question.....why press now? Maybe you can't do it all season long but can do it down the stretch when the games are less frequent.....especially, with 2 byes in B1G tourney and a lot of days between NCAA games.

Interesting that this interim coach believes he can press more despite losing two players from the rotation. I understand we still played 10 yesterday. He certainly seems to be getting a solid effort from the entire team.

IF we play in the finals, it might be a problem on that 3rd day, especially against MD.

But other than that, let it rip!

As others have referenced Arkansas’ 40 minutes of hell, seems like we are doing the same thing.
And I don’t think anyone else out there is trying to do this.

It used to be our calling card.
I think it needs to be again.

If we get into foul trouble, break it out in spurts.

Or, use it in the second half. The officials seem to call a different game in the second half. The 55 is an excellent part of the game.
