Yeah really. An indefinite suspension generally means that the coach needs to see some genuine behavioral modifications before the player is allowed back. What behavioral modifications could possibly have been made so quickly?

Gets one game, Coach K is spineless. A joke one game.
Actually I don't think "spineless" is the right word. That word implies that he succumbed to external pressure to reinstate Allen. I don't think that's what happened. I doubt there was any mass outcry for his return so soon.

I think Colonel Rutgers is right. He just wants to win at all costs, and no longer cares about maintaining even a facade of professionalism.

I could be wrong on this of course. Maybe the Dookie community did put a ton of pressure on him to reinstate Allen. In which case my level of respect for them has decreased. Which is hard to do, as my prior level of respect for them was zero.

Duke University is all about themselves when it comes to money. They make millions upon millions upon millions at the hospital (all the kids of faculty members attend Duke tuition free while the poor get cost shifted to Chapel Hill.

I chuckled at the angle being played by the Coach K lapdogs in the media saying this was a wise move because it now takes the pressure off Capel to have to answer questions about when Allen would be reinstated.

LOL. What? There's a simple solution to that. Coach K says Allen is suspended for 5 games, 7 games, 10 games, whatever. That takes care of the questions that Capel might have to face.

This was plain and simple K wanting to win at all costs and making sure when he gets back from surgery, his team will still be in good shape in the ACC.

How long of a suspension would have been appropriate?

I would have thought at least 3 games at a minimum. You see kids potentially get one game suspensions if they elbow a kid or have a hard, intentional foul in a game.

Allen did what he did not just once, not just twice, but three times now and the last time he had a meltdown on the bench after it. A one game suspension is chuckle worthy.

As pointed out above, the ACC is looking like a weakling here cowering to one of their big name coaches.

Not sure what your point was here but you do know that most schools do that? Rutgers employees kids get tuition free also.

Some private schools give you the option to pick multiple schools in their "plan" to go to tuition free.

Allen may wind up being more despised than Laetner when all is said and done. At least I respected Laetner as a winner who had the ability to get to in people's heads. Allen just seems like a whiney brat by tripping players and throwing hissy fits.

If he gets drafted, would love to see him try his maneuver on some guy in the D League. As for Coach K, he reinstated Allen to get him back in game shape for the next game. He could have sat and Puke still beats G Tech by by six or 7 TD's.

Well there was that one game on April 6, 2015 when he scored 16 points in 21 minutes including eight straight points and a key steal to jump start Duke's comeback win over Wisconsin. That resulted in a national championship.

Duke can get away with it. They rally wagons and their PR machine is excellent.

Rutgers should take notes.

Rat Face has always been spineless and a whiner both on and off the court. And once again Bilas, that POS who droned on and on and on about the Mike Rice fiasco was on Mike and Mike this morning defending his old ball coach even though both Mikes criticized the move by Rat Face to reinstate THE TRIPPER.

Absolutely despicable. The kid should have been suspended by the conference for the remainder of the season. This wasn't the first time for this. He has anger issues which will get him in trouble at some point in the near future. There's no way this kid doesn't snap or someone antagonizes him to snap and that will be the end for him. You can't indefinitely suspend and have his out for one game?

Terrible job by Duke and the ACC.

Honestly what grayson allen does with this tripping is such a non-story. The stuff happens all the time, he just happens to be known for it.

LOL. Allen has been called for 3 technical/flagrant fouls for tripping since last Feb, and he threw a tantrum on the bench. If this happens all the time, who else has done this?

1 game seems about right to me. It was a stupid play, but he didn't hurt anybody. You can bet that he will be out for longer if this happens again. It got his attention where being called for flagrant fouls did not. I have seen worse in the way of hard physical contact in RU's last 3 games. MSU looked almost thugish in the way one of their guy would come running down the court and just slam into the chest of one of our bis in the paint. He wasn't called once.

The kid last year got 4 games for tripping an official so Allen should be between 1 and 4 based on that precedent, unless you consider tripping a player worse than tripping an official.
He was also assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected from the game.

In the Oregon State case, the game official and the OSU Coach got it right. I don't think that player tripped anyone again

I don't like the kid------thought personally it should have been a 3 game suspension but that play yesterday IMO should go into the No Big Deal category.
