Grass coming to Memorial Stadium

Only thing I can think of is this was on contract before the decision to go to grass as made.
In November, Dannen said that grass would not be installed inside Memorial stadium until the stadium renovations are completed in 2028. Based on what Dannen said today, it seems like that is still the plan.
"It was the last stand for the Memorial Stadium turf, which will be replaced before next football season. NU will eventually switch to a grass playing surface, but that change won’t come until the end of the larger stadium renovation project.
'Because a lot of the stadium work will have to be done from the inside, the idea of putting grass in there and tearing it up just isn’t too appetizing,' Dannen said. 'So putting a good turf surface in, turf that can be rolled up to bring equipment in and then rolled back in that transitional phase.'”

Since a grass field is a want rather than a need I hope it's put off for a good number of years otherwise this all seems incredibly wasteful.
This is how Nebraska spends so much more than anyone else in the B1G and has .500 seasons at best
I’ve said this many times, either the finance team at the university is stupid or they are dirty. No way around that.

Put the damn grass field in already. Waiting until renovations are done is a red herring. PSU is about to start a $750 million renovation of Beaver stadium. They don’t seem worried in the slightest about damage to their grass.
