Couldn't attend being 7 hours away and since there was no streaming I could only 'watch' the old fashioned way through Jim's description of the action.

It was encouraging to see our pitching rebound from the debacle in fayetteville. Can't complain about a one run game. Plumb threw 60 pitches which makes me wonder how ready he will be to go on Sunday.

Took us forever to get going at the plate but finally shook off some of the funk from arky there too getting some timely hits with runners on base.

We did get outhit 8 to 7 and that brings me to my only negative and that is infield defense. This is still a problem especially on the left side. We only had one official error but at least a couple of their hits were missed plays that were, in at least one case, worse than an error. The mile high pop fly on the infield that was allowed to fall without a play was one and what was described as a triple clutch before the throw at third that failed to beat the runner is another. There might have been another hit as I seem to recall where the ball was fielded cleanly but the player fell down before he could make the throw.

All in all a great effort and a top 25 win. Hopefully we can keep it going this weekend.

We are probably facing the best pitching staff in the SEC this weekend.... UPigg weakness was supposed to be pitching, but they shut us down.

That is incredible. They haven't exactly faced murders row in the SEC though. It's incredible how different the schedules are for the East teams.

That gives me hope for this weekend.

I have hope for every weekend with this team. No matter who we are playing.

it helps when the pig strike zone is basically the size of a deuce and a half and ours is some weird "T" shape

People are sleeping on how good Tennessee is. They are 33-11 overall, 9-9 in the SEC and No. 7 RPI.
To contrast, we are 33-9 overall, 10-8 in the SEC and No. 12 RPI. Basically, the differences in our resumes is we took 2 of 3 in that series.

We should have swept them too, without Ginn for the most part. They can pitch it.

Good job! That ball that fell in between Foscue and Westburg was hit about a mile high. A play that should have been made but not that easy. I think most of the issues there are communication issues just from not playing together at SS/2B a ton. I think that will continue to get better. Our defense was OK last night. We made the plays that for the most part should have been made.

Yeah Tennessee might host if they can finish above .500 in conference play.

Still concerned about our offense going into this weekend against that GA pitching staff. We scored 8 runs last night but on only 7 hits (OM had 8). Not sure that says we are out of our offensive funk that seems to have started against Texas Southern.

I predict we sweep in much like the way Arky swept us. Nothing is ever what it seems in baseball. Remember when we swept #1 Florida last year at home? We will do it again this weekend. Book it!

We lead the SEC in batting average, doubles, and runs per game (30 more runs than the 2nd team). I can see why you'd be worried about our offense.

We are averaging 3.77 runs a game (in regulation) in our last nine conference games against teams that are not alabama so i can see concern

Hell, if you're going to jump through that many hoops to do it, you could make the 1927 Yankees look anemic.

All i did was look at our last nine games against teams that are even close to comparable with georgia and the next two teams we play. And when we have played teams that can halfway pitch we just dont score much. I dont think its unreasonable to look through that lens. I watch every game and there are stretches where it isnt tough to quiet our bats and we string together some bad ABs. That guy that threw for ark sunday is horrible.

We have the talent to turn that around but thats the truth

baseball is a fickle sport. sweep one weekend and get swept the next. then beat the breaks off another conference team and hold them to one run when they usually hit pretty well. just never know which teams are going to come out on the field and how they will match up that night.

Baseball is a game of streaks and the law of averages. Recent data means a lot, sometimes more than the long term average. Heck, even Mangum said the team has not been right offensively the last 4 games (said before the Gov's cup). Not a good time to be in a funk when you are about to face what is probably the best pitching staff in the SEC. So yeah, I'm worried about the offense for this weekend in particular. If you aren't you haven't been paying attention to our offense over the past week.

The long term average means a lot more than recent data. For the very reason you say. Baseball is a game of streaks and the law of averages. Streaks don't last. The law of averages does.
