I agree with Guiliani, BLM is a racist, bigoted movement. The police chief has a future in politics, esp. in a no nonsense state like Texas.
It's interesting to me that many, including yourself, think that the phrase "Black lives matter" is racist and/or somehow implies that lives of people of other races don't matter. It's not a zero sum political game. Blacks have been at the short end of the stick forever in this country. And that includes abuse by police. Who can deny that? So for a group of people to raise awareness that institutional racism still exists doesn't mean everyone else is insignificant. Personally, I think it's racist for people to not see this.

I will agree you on the short end of the stick in this country. In Africa, they are hit with stick. When the challenger to Hiliary stated that all lives matter, BLM shouted him down. To them only blacks matter, even thug criminals like Michael Brown who attacked the officer and led to week long riots over a lie. I stand with Guiliani on this, he's a lot smarter than both of us.

Some half bake woman on Face the Nation claimed Guiliani did nothing but suppress blacks. He reduced black deaths by 65%. Bloomberg took it to 80%. Emanuel presides over the worse murder rate in the country. Who cares about black lives? The one who did something to reduce the murder of blacks or the big liberal, like most liberals, who tell you they care but all they are concerned with is taking your money?

He's an idiot!

He reduced black murder rate 65%, What's the great Rahm Emanuel done? Worse murder rate in the country and the most stringent gun laws. That's what happens where black lives matter fans run the govt.

No, they enforced it, unlike Chicago where they don't enforce their own laws. If you know a state enforces the speed limit vigorously, are you as apt to speed thru that state? I think you are being somewhat facetious knowing how you post. You know the difference between Chicago's liberal mayor and Guiliani. One did something that reduced black murders and was called a suppressor and Chicago's whose done nothing. Emanuel is a dumpster fire.

I don't think I'm being facetious. I'm not trying to defend Emanuel or Giuliani. I thought it was a good question. NYC had and has some pretty strict gun laws. I'm not sure how they compare to Chicago's, but I know legal possession of a firearm in NYC requires a bunch of paperwork. If it is a question of law enforcement, then you stated your original point poorly. You stated that Chicago has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. I'm supposed to read your intent that this is a law enforcement problem in Chicago?

Giuliani increased the police presence in NYC by a fair amount - at a significant cost. I'm not sure how or if he paid for that. I don't mean to say that Giuliani was wrong for increasing the police presence, only that policing isn't free. I do think that Chicago has to figure a lot of things out, and it's going to be an expensive solution. Is Emanuel the right guy to do it? He hasn't shown evidence that he is.

I'll also note that Giuliani took a lot of flack due to some of the methods used in policing. Stop and frisk was one issue that concerned a lot of folks, me included, as counter to the Fourth Amendment.

Since Mississippi became a state, it has had 64 governors, including 55 Democrats and 5 Republicans. Democrats dominated after retaking control of the state legislature; they passed a constitution in 1890 that disfranchised most African Americans, excluding them from the political system for nearly 70 years, and made it a one-party state.

Should I post the results for rest of the states where discrimination against Blacks was part of everyday life. This is why we are in the mess we are in today.

Stop and frisk worked. You needed a reason to stop them. Hanging out when they should be working, not selling. Having a handgun on you and being a felon automatically sent you back to prison. It cleaned up NY in a good way. Chicago has the same type of laws but you won't find them agressively working the streets. I guess they don't care. DeBlasio ordered Stop and frisk to cease and the murder rate is steadily climbing. I guess his biracial kids will now have to worry about other blacks, not just police officers, like that *** Deblasio said one time.

The murder rate in USSR was low too. The reasons to stop were weak - everything was accepted. We could give up our second amendment rights to make us safer, but that's not a viable solution. Why should we give up our fourth amendment rights to make us safer?

First, is it unreasonable to ask someone why they are hanging out at 2 am in the morning in an area where there's a lot of drug activity and gang shootings? Not unreasonable to me. Is it unreasonable to ask someone why they are hanging out on a street corner when most people would be working? I believe that some courts upheld it as reasonable and some did not. Profiling is good police work, sorry you don't feel that you want good police work, just below average or poor at best. The USSR is a totalitarian govt. I don't believe I would ever want to emulate that garbage. By the way, it's against the law for a felon o have a gun on them. They have lost their second amendment right. That's why it worked so well in NY. That's why the murder rate in Chicago is so high. Maybe the liberals in Chicago look at the murder rate as a way to decrease govt expense in the form of welfare payments?

The last time I checked, this was America and I was an adult. If I want to hang out in any public place at any time of day or night, that is the freedom I have (not that I would choose to hang out at certain places at 2 am). I would love for someone to ask me why I was hanging out on a street corner. That would be hilarious. Most people would be working? So, everyone works 9-5? You live too sheltered a life. You think everyone fits in this nice little box and if they don't, they are wrong and have problems.

So, you are not in favor of good police work? You are in favor of young kids being randomly shot by gangbangers or convicted felons who shouldn't have guns. The proof is in the pudding. Guiliani and Bloomberg decrease murders in NY by 85% by using good police work. That means looking at someone and seeing how they carry themselves, any bulges under clothes, and then asking them what's up. As I said, you must be happy that people are being murdered left and right in Chicago because of liberal misgivings over looking at who really commits the crimes. It's not good police work to stop someone like yourself who problably doesn't look like a someone who might cause a problem. Now that DeBlasio has been mayor, he doesn't want the same kind of commitment by police, the murders have started to creep up. Now, he has to tell his biracial children that they have to fear both the police and other black criminal eho might be carrying now that the police are forbidden from doing good police work. As with most liberals, you have confused the right of peaceful assembly with the right to assemble to promote criminal activity.

Most normal people aren't "hanging" out around a drug infested street corner at 2am or 10am or 3pm. I used 2am as one example, you can use any time you want, what are they doing? It's not hard to detect a possible criminal undertaking. By the way, a criminal will not be carrying if he will go to jail if he is caught with a gun. Good police work. Chicago=Bad police work. Liberals=bad police work.

Everyone is in favor of good police work. Not everyone agrees that your definition is good police work. Not all stop and frisk stops were at 2 am. Not all stops were people just hanging out on a corner. I agree that someone convicted of a felony doesn't have a right to carry a gun, but, as I said earlier, almost no one in NYC has the right to carry a gun. The paperwork to get a concealed carry permit is insane. By your argument, the cops could just do a gun check of everyone walking down the street in NYC as long as it looked like they might be carrying.

Doesn't have to be 2am. Just hanging out in the wrong area looking like you might be involved in nefarious activity. The gun pocession violates their parole and that sends them back to jail. It stopped a lot of criminals from carrying and thus, stopped a lot of random shootings that left innocents dead. By your statements, you don't care whether innocents die.

You missed my point. Criminal record or not, carrying a gun in NYC is a crime - a felony - unless you are one of the handful of people in that city with a permit. You get caught with a gun in NYC, you are now a felon. See Plaxico Burress.

You act like stop and frisk was effective. A quick google search gave an article that said that cops found 397 guns in 2013's 191,851 stop and frisk stops. That's a return of 0.2%. Do you knowingly put your money in anything that returns 0.2%? You think investing police assets in a tactic that has that low of a rate of return is good policing?

Look up the murder rate before it started and then after it was turned over to Demoron. If you are caught with one, and you are a felon, it violates your parole and you go straight to jail. The murder rate after Guilaini and Bloomberg, both used it, decreased 85%. Only a complete fool would say that was the only reason, I know it wasn't the only reason,. But a complete fool would think that your stats were accurate depiction of how many carried guns before stop and frisk was started. Even you can see the illogic behind those stats and drawing your conclusions.

I thought it might be useful to look up the number of murders in NYC by year. What's interesting is that the numbers are down since stop and frisk peaked in 2011. You can look it up if you'd like. 2011 was the peak for stop and frisk, and there were 515 murders. In 2012, there were 414 murders. Stats through 2015 never hit 400 again.

I should also note that the number of guns recovered in stop and frisk stops in 2013 was one of the low points. The rate of success in recovering guns through stop and frisk was not low though. The rate was consistently between 0.1% and 0.2% from 2003, the year they first started tracking that statistic.

What was the murder rate when Guliani took over? 1200 was the number I believe. It was more than stop and frisk, as I said, but liberals don't want people being held accountable for their actions, especially if it's minorities. By the way, crime has increased since DeBlsio took office, you can look that up if you want.

That's true anywhere. You can't use that to support your claim that Giuliani was responsible for lowering the murder rate.

I thought all you conservatives believed that criminals had no regard for the laws anyway?

I have looked it up. de Blasio was elected in 2013, took office in 2014. 2014 was the lowest murder rate in NYC since 1928. It was up a little in 2015, but this year it is down significantly as compared to last year. NYC has already seized 800 guns in 2016 (stat from 4 Apr). Stop and frisk at its peak seized around 600 in a year in over 685k stops.

Giuliani increased the number of police on the streets. He took a hard line against crime. I'm fine with both tactics. I think stop and frisk was both wrong and not terribly effective. That's where I break from him.

No, conservatives believe in the rule of law, liberals believe in the rule of anything goes. Guiliani lowered the numbers of murders by 65% from the time he took officd and Bloomberg dropped it another 15%.All a result of great police work, which include stop and frisk. Are you really that stupid to think that random shootings went down because they weren't afraid of going back to jail if caught with a fire arm? Hard to pull that trigger if you don't have it. That's the real reason why thugs, white, black, hispanic or Asian, wouldn't carry. Just look at Chicago where they have tough gun laws but have no compunction to even enforce the laws. There has to be a reason and so far, Chicago contradicts everything you say about NY's active aggression against criminals.
