Thurston Howell references... really? What an odd connection to make, especially since it is not even that similar to Thorson. Yikers.
I felt like the guy just didn't know how to start the article and was trying to be interesting. Fail.

Just gonna post the real article that was the meat of Florio's nonsense post:

PHILADELPHIA — Carson Wentz can find a fresh reminder of how much fun it was to begin his professional football career with the Eagles by looking two lockers to his left.

Occupying that space is fifth-round pick Clayton Thorson, who quarterbacked Northwestern to a 36-17 record against Big 10 competition. Though the 6-4, 222-pound Thorson also started all 53 games, a record for a Big 10 quarterback, the victories provide the most satisfaction.

“I think just knowing that we won 36 games," Thorson said after his first rookie camp practice Friday. "And it probably should have been more like 44. Just knowing that there was more on the table, too, is something good.

“The wins are most important.”

Wentz isn’t all the way back from the hairline fracture in his back that limited him to just 11 games last season. It's possible he might sit out OTAs and minicamp. The good nethe ws is ACL he tore two seasons ago while setting the single-season Eagles record with 33 touchdown passes doesn’t seem to be an issue.

There is no question the Eagles are Wentz’s team. The front office moved on from Nick Foles, the MVP of their Super Bowl LII championship win over the New England Patriots and the guy who led them to a playoff berth with a victory this past season. Foles had been in the locker alongside Wentz. It’s now occupied by Nate Sudfeld.

It’s a young quarterback's room, as Wentz is 26, Sudfeld 25 and Thorson 23. Louis Perez, who played in the now defunct Alliance for American Football League, is 24. It’s just a matter of time before the competition gets interesting as Thorson is an alpha male with swagger and personality.

“I think any time you can make your teammates better that’s what you’ve got to try to do,” Thorson said. “And that’s what I’m going to do. Any time I can make my teammates better I’m going to say something to them.”

First impressions are lasting impressions, and Thorson looked anything but lost in the early portion of practice open to the media Friday. Arm strength isn’t going to be an issue. Thorson tends to throw high toward the sideline, which probably won’t be a problem for the taller receivers.

What could take time is coaching Thorson to a point where he doesn’t force the ball as much as he did on the previous level, whether that was because of the caliber of players around him or general fearlessness.

Thorson threw 61 touchdown passes starting those 53 games in four seasons. The opposition registered 45 interceptions, a totally unacceptable ratio for an NFL quarterback.

Last year, Thorson threw 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in leading the Wildcats to a 9-5 record. The numbers are skewed slightly by graduation losses and his comeback from a torn ACL suffered in a bowl game.

“I feel so much better now,” Thorson said. “Week by week it got better last season but what I keep hearing is the second year out from an ACL is just so much better and I feel that right now. You can get back to doing a seven-step drop, hitting that plant and going upfield because it just feels so much better.”

Wentz obviously can relate to the ACL rehab as he had one of his best games of the season in a Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys before being shutdown with the back issue. They’ll be able to share stories while Sudfeld spells Wentz at minicamp and training camp.

For now, Thorson is content with putting one foot in front of the other. The three-day rookie camp is merely a start with modest goals.

“One, just getting back to playing football again,” Thorson said. “I feel like it’s been so long since we’ve been doing that against a defense. But also, just learning the offense, getting a base for this offense, what the Eagles offense is. Get to know the fellow draft picks, signees and coaches as well.

“I think thankfully the scheme we had at Northwestern allows me to have not as steep of a learning curve. But there is a lot of differences as well. Obviously, there’s some technique in that but the mental side of it is just different things are going different ways, that’s different than college.”

Thorson has a lot to learn. The Eagles are confident Wentz and Sudfeld will be able to answer questions when the coaches aren’t in his ear.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is the ultimate resource, having played quarterback in the NFL. Offensive coordinator Mike Groh played the position in college. But there’s only so much they can say.

It’s up to Wentz, who admittedly could have been a better teammate last year, to show Thorson the way.

And Thorson, reeling with the excitement of a rookie, sure sounds like he reveres the professional lessons and experiences Wentz – and Sudfeld – can share with him.

“Knowing that I don’t know everything and those guys know pretty much it all,” Thorson said. “Just learning from those guys, I think that’s the biggest thing.”

He will look great in simulated events. Might look tolerable in pre season, but if he ever plays one nfl snap for the eagles this year when it matters, then its going to be a long season.
Sudefield is a much more polished qb in the pocket but he makes mistakes. I didnt know that the eagles were so depleted at qb so Thorson may actually make the roster.

Will he wear gloves during those cold Philly winters?

And here's a pretty good film analysis of CT by a Philly fan.

You'd think a guy who makes a 10-minute highlight reel of a QB who started 53 games in his career could find more than 4 games to use for a film review, especially when 2 of those games were the first two after his ACL injury.

I kept waiting for the dimes he dropped on MSU, Nebraska, and Iowa.

You won't see a better pitch-and-catch than the TD to Bennett against Iowa.

The TD to Cam Green against MSU was arguably even better. It was right on the money. Skowronek just made an unbelievable individual effort on a ball that was otherwise a bit overthrown.

The pass to Green in the MSU game was a gimme 10 yard throw with no coverage as the LB got sucked up on the play. The throw to Skowronek was -40 yards on a dime with coverage draped all over the receiver. No comparison.

That's a catch for the ages. A fabulous catch to win the West. And he was so badass after he caught the ball when no one was sure it was a TD. That play sends chills every time I see it and I've seen it dozens of times now.

Fair enough. But it was still much better placement than was usual for Clayton.

Exactly, you can't find any footage of the 99-yard drive where he missed his first pass and then hit 6 in a row to methodically march down the field under enormous pressure to tie the game?

Honorable mention - Beckman getting knocked on his *** and drawing a flag

I disagree. That one is number one and will always be number one. Nothing will ever top it, especially when you include the end where he crawled on this but like a little crab off the field
