Good news or smokescreen?

Yeah good question. Under normal conditions keeping d coordinator guessing would be a good thing.

Good to hear JD moving around well. He is a difference-maker.
Not convinced AM's issues are directly related to whatever injury he sustained last week. The problems have been evident all year.

I think that his knee has bothered him a little all year but by no means evident. I also think that he wont be ready Saturday amd Noah will play just fine.

I hope AM is going to start. He has struggled this year, but we need him to come out and play like the superior athlete he is. He is our starter. And when he is “on” he is a much better QB than Vedral. Unless you think our coaches are morons who put irrational devotion to one player over winning, we need to acknowledge that they know who the better QB is.

And that QB is Martinez. We are a worse team without him, not better.

Agreed but he really hasn't been that "on" all year. He hasn't been wearing a brace like last year after the injury to my knowledge. If he's not 100%, it's not worth playing him. He's struggling enough right now without trying to play while injured. Get leg healthy and let him look at it from the sideline for awhile. That can help a lot sometime.

If that knee tweak is as bad as it looked on Saturday I'm hoping they can get it done with Vedral rather than have Martinez out there at 70%.

You remove the threat of QB run if he can't move like he's capable of doing, and you carry the risk of making that injury worse if he takes a bad hit or cut on it again.

It would THRILL me to not watch us play Iowa again with a QB who has effectively lost the use of one of his appendages.

AND, he actually hurt it before his final play. Not sure everyone knows that. He gimped for a little bit then appeared ok.

Everyone loves the backup QB, that is until he actually has to play. Having said that it does seem as though Martinez doesn't have the initial burst and decisiveness he had last year. Maybe it is that he is trying to get a third and fourth read in while the OL rarely gives him enough time or maybe his knee hasn't been 100%. The receivers with the obvious couple of exceptions have done a poor job of getting any separation which also contributes to Martinez having to hold on too long or force a ball into tight windows.

I’d say bad news. Martinez is out of the Heisman hunt. Bench him and put a medical redshirt on him. Bunch is a much better option. As far as mo goes he thought nebraska played flag football. Go with the true freshman.

Other than the fact that it's too late for a medical redshirt and Bunch is 4th string, these ideas are pure gold!

He plays like he is protecting an injury.

If I'm Vegas, the odds just improved for Minny.

If I'm Minny, I'm happy that AM is practicing and would be starting.
I would too. They know what they are getting with Martinez. They don't know how to prepare for Vedral. Plus there in zero chance Martinez is playing at 100% after being able to put almost no weight on his leg 4 days ago.

He has played to many games to qualify for a medical RS.
