I've never had a hole-in-one and have only witnessed one. My golf buddy and I were playing in a par-3 tournament and he hit the ball horribly. It was a low burner that only made it about 3/4 of the way to a 120 yd hole, but it rolled and rolled and tracked right into the hole. They had prizes for holes-in-one on about half the holes, but this one wasn't one of them. There was a $10k prize (I think) on a hole that was about 190 and I nearly got one on that one, rolled right over the hole about 5 feet past.
There's a par-3 in my home town that I like to play a lot when I go home. I've come really close a number of times, but never got one to go in.
I remember the first hole in one I got. That day was a little wind, but it was to my back on this par 3. I hit a solid shot and timed it just right to miss the windmill blades . . .
