Replay the top of the ninth inning, I think that both of Flannery‘s runs should’ve been unearned. Reviewing the scoring, they gave Shaffer an error allowing Moore to reach. Yet, in the box score, Flannery was charged with two earned runs. I don’t think that was accurate.

This happened all the time last year, there’d be a scoring error that would get corrected in the team stats a few days later, likely after our coaching staff saw it.
As somebody who worked in the press box as a student and helped score games, it’s frankly embarrassing if we have somebody in the role who doesn’t know how to score baseball games.

No need to overthink this one. They were definitely unearned runs and we just don’t have someone who understands scoring doing the work.
Similar to how we have had folks in charge of the @DiamondHeels Twitter account for years now who know nothing about baseball. Some years are worse than others. One year we had people tweeting about how many “points” we had.

Good thing any scout/NCAA rep watches film to know the deal. Also the players don't give a damn. Classic boomers who immediately talk junk about a student (probably working for free so YOU can look at the stats) instead of letting them learn. Bet y'all would need your reading glasses to even input the stats

A student is not the official scorer. And of course a pitcher cares about his ERA.

By the way, I think they corrected it. Flannery’s ERA in the team stats is 0 and the boxscore has been updated.
