As long as the players don't have to learn another guy's verbage the last 3 games of the season - give him a shot.

But he’s the QB coach and if DR is regressing isn’t that on Thomas?

Could be a million different variables. Might be Thomas, could be the system, could be the kid is a *****. Who knows?

Just that we’ve seen enough to know that this team isn’t better and is showing 0 signs of becoming better. That is empirical

The system and play design at times are problems. Satterfield’s refusal to commit to the run probably wouldn’t change if Thomas was calling the plays. Winning programs commit to the run. I’m not saying run option or go full service academy but for heaven’s sake don’t try 3 low percentage pass plays in a row from the 5 yard line.

I don’t think Satterfield will change. I’m not sure Thomas would change anything and I’m doubtful that Rhule would fire either or both of them. I think we’re stuck. Rhule needs to take charge and insist Satt commit to the run.

I think Rhule did take the reins a bit in the second half with the down hill running game, but it was a little too late.

Can he call plays?
Yes. Taking away Satt's play calling would be the easiest fix. But it goes way beyond that of course. Too many of their plays are run out of shot gun formation and teams have figured out how to render all plays from that formation ineffective. So they're going to need to scrap most of those plays and add some stuff to run out of pistol and from under center.

There are simple things that can be done if you expect pressure like running a bunch set to one side or use motion & shifts, but we like to be predictable and simple with our receivers. And with Dylan habitually looking down at the pass rush and taking his eyes away from downfield every play out of shotgun, I think it would be easier to just scrap that formation from the playbook or only use it sparingly with the hopes that teams won't recognize it and run a zero blitz.

It all starts with how you practice. These receivers block as if they don't even practice blocking. If you want to run the ball well, you have to practice the sh*t out of it. My guess is that they spend 90% of their time practicing plays out of shot gun-- you know, all of those plays that get blown up by the zero coverage blitzes?

We're very easy to defend right now. We're like Colorado was-- stop a run or two early in the game and the OC will just give up on it and make his own team one dimensional.

Yes.... that said, HH had some beautiful throws yesterday... His WRs obviously screwed the pooch and didn't help him but no way he throws like that last year without a good coach... I think it's too much for Dylan this year... that's ok, let him take a step back and let's close this thing out
