I think Leach needs to win 2 of the last 3 conference games to warrant a bump, but that's just me. And as we all know, there have been a lot of extended contracts worth millions of dollars based on pretty common results.

He's going to get an extension that comes with a bump that is basically "inflation" (at least for coaches salary) because he's more or less met expectations. Came in and had a bad first year with some very small flashes while he was installing the offense. Has showed progress this second year and gotten people excited even if there were some pretty frustrating games.

If he finishes 3-1, he'll get a real raise and if he finishes 4-0 he's it will be even bigger.

The one thing we have going for us at this point is there is basically nowhere he can go that is an upgrade that is going to accept two years of offensive struggles while he gets his offense in. They'll be calling for his head at the end of year one. Plus at this age, I can't imagine Leach wants to spend two years of his remaining career struggling with players that are still learning to execute his offense. If Leach excels and wants to max his pay from us, his leverage is retirement, not going to another school.

Everywhere Leach has be a HC he has stayed for a long time. I don't think it is his thing to jump schools.

Some of you have never had a negotiation in your life I'm guessing. Of course he's not going back, but he's also built the crazy guy reputation who might just go back...

It's contract extension time. Mississippi has that stupid *** 4 year limit. Leach is halfway through and has everyone excited. Unless he falls apart or some stupid vaccine **** gets him canned, he's going to get paid. This is one more log on the fire. 4 and 6 is coming...

Get your checkbook out Cohen. He's a 17ing pirate, he's going to get his money.

Cohen alright got the checkbook out.

I agree, but does it matter? The fact that Leach only has two years left and his name is being floated anywhere means the pay raise is coming unless it falls apart in Starkville between now and the end of the year.

One bit of credence you could give the Tech thing is Leach loved the fans and they loved him. His fight is with the old chancellor and board of regents. As far as money goes, they *could* go as far as they want. Two of Leach's players at Tech (Cody Campbell and John Sellers) started a shale company. The 17ers just sold out for $6.4 billion. They had already sold a chunk for $2.8 billion in 2017.

40 year old self made billionaires that actually played for Leach. Not sure they would want to bring him back, but Leach has been fighting for his $2.5 million. These two guys could drop $50 million without breaking a sweat. Cody Campbell is now one of the Texas Tech Regents and is on the football coach search committee. Again, I have no idea if he even wants Leach. But this is him carrying Leach of the field after a game. I'm guessing they are still friendly.

You would think that Sonny Dykes is at the top of the Tech list. He coached there under Leach and his Dad was the HC before Leach. He's doing well at SMU right now.

So in a vacuum, I don’t think Leach is going back to Texas Tech. There’s bad blood there, he’s not trying to give up on what he started here when it just look like he’s starting to roll, etc.
But the one thing that could throw a wrench in it that no one has brought up, surprisingly, is the whole vaccine situation. We kind of suspect he’s vaccinated, but we don’t really know, and if he has a chance to take a lateral move to a school where it’s not an issue… who knows?

Leach ain't going anywhere. Rumor is he told Cohen and some boosters this will be his last stop before retiring to Key West. He wants to prove that the Air Raid can be successful in the SEC.

Did Leach say that they would have to carry him out of Starkville in a pine box?

We are going to need to bump our salaries up across the board. I know a lot of folks think 5 is too much but good coaches are being overpaid and it costs money to keep successful coaches. And these kind of rumors kick it off. I mean look what Florida is paying Dan to go 8 and 4. Back to back years.....well, if they win out. May I remind everyone he is 4 and 4 right now
