Talk about a win/win, I bet Memphis worked out an awesome deal on that buyout. Georgia tech might even profit on this deal.

If Pastner can recruit the Atlanta area like he did Memphis, he'll do just fine. There are so many really good prospects there in the next few years, as well as in the state of Georgia. He'll just need a couple of experienced bench and development coaches.

Memphis might lure Marshall since the core of his NCAA group graduates. But, WSU was reportedly paying Big XII money to Marshall and he's resisted programs from the top 7-10 conferences for several years.

Marshall has a good gig at WSU. A more likely candidate would be Wojcik.

I would be "shocked" if he went to Memphis...
+1 ............ IMO it will take tradition rich program from Power conferences where basketball is King to get him out of Wichita, such as Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Kentucky, and maybe Syracuse or Georgetown.

He has it made at Wichita State, has turned a MVC program into a nationally recognized threat.

Did Memphis forget how much trouble they had hiring a coach last time around?

He did graduate his best known players. You often see coaches change jobs in that situation - strike while the iron is hot. Plus Wichita is not that thrilled with the MVC after losing Creighton. So you never know.

I think Marshall will sit tight and see what happens at North Carolina in the coming months. NCAA is close to releasing findings and sanctions on UNC for their large scale, athletic department wide academic scandal that Bubba inherited when he walked through the door there. Rumblings have Roy skipping town and retiring before he can be held accountable for the paper classes controversy.

There's also UCLA that could become available in a year if Alford doesn't get them back on track.

Wow GT really bailed Memphis out on this one! I haven't seen a third party come in like this and save Memphis when they were completely and totally screwed since - well, the referees every time we play there...
