He just isn't a Leach QB. He is a Mullen QB. Trying to make him a Leach QB is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I applaud him for trying this new thing and if it doesn't work out I wish him well if he transfers next year.

Leach said slot receiver and that he has made a few good plays in practice already. He expects good things from him. I'm imagining him catching a 5 yard slant and trucking a linebacker and a couple DBs on his way down field for 40 yards

I think it’s going to work out fine. He was allegedly offered by Bama as a WR. And there’s no reason why he won’t be in the competition at QB next year regardless....the fact that he can’t beat out an NFL caliber QB should by no means be a strike against him.

Yeah, he's fearless and can easily go into bulldozer mode.

Ryan Tannehill played WR at Texas A&M before switching to QB and he went on to be a 1st round pick and has had a decent NFL career. Not saying this happens to Schrader but you never know.

Its not just that he can't beat Costello out, he is behind Roger's too. 3rd string QB. But he is such a good athlete Leach wants him on the field. I think he will do good. He could compete at QB next year I suppose but he would probly have to transfer out. Will is only gonna get better.

Can somebody explain the redshirt/eligibility rule for this year? Does this year basically count as a redshirt for everybody, or will him playing receiver this year count as a year of eligibility against him?

Its a free year. Does not count against eligibility at all is my understanding

Leach said Shrader is in QB shape but needs to get in WR shape. Probably has a lot of running in his future.
