3rd place in Big10 RU takes on red hot, 4th place Michigan in Ann Arbor at 7pm. Michigan has reeled off 6 straight wins, and is tough at home w an 11-1 home record. RU broke a 3 game skid recently at Indiana. RU sits at 10-4 in Conference play, 18-7 overall. Michigan is 9-6, 18-9. RU lost a fairly certain OOC win when it's early season game against Charlotte was cancelled because bad weather, otherwise they'd be going for their 20th win.


Last games heroics were provided by Tekia Mack w 24 points. RU will need stars Stasha Carey and Ciani Cryor to stay out of foul trouble in order to log more minutes. Still no word about suspended Caitlen Jenkins, RU's top Rebounder, who will be sorely missed. In the Big Ten, the Wolverines lead the league in rebounding defense holding opponents to 32.1 rebounds per contest and are second in rebounding margin at +8.4. This will be an extremely tough road game, to say the least.

Harris and Carey have disappeared, both w early fouls and no offense. Jenkins being suspended has turned out to be a dagger in the heart of the program. Giurantes has also disappeared.

End of third, RU losing 61-53. Still a game. Without Jenkins, and early foul trouble again of Carey and Harris , and Giurantes again losing her touch, it's great our younger players keeping it close. Cryor not much offense and LOTS of turnovers, but providing assists.

This game was almost unwinnable once Jenkins threw herself off the team, but to give up about 25 wide open layups , has just made Michigan's job much much easier. RU still playing hard, just not smart or efficient.

Final Michigan 86 RU 76.

Not unexpected, this is a very good Michigan team, that plays great at home. RU without it's best rebounder Jenkins, and Head Coach Stringer home sick, was at a Huge disadvantage. Plus it's other rebounders Carey and Harris, mystersiously aren't playing smart, and pick up very early , very fast fouls , which render them impotent the remainder of the game. RU gets crushed on the glass from the 2nd qtr on, giving up about 30 easy layups as a result. The team played Extremely hard, but couldn't overcome the handicap of an outmanned and foul proned front court.

RU has 3 more Big 10 games left, home against Wisconsin and Minn, and away at Ohio St.

I see 2 more wins and 1 more loss getting to 21 wins, and 3rd or 4th place , getting a first round Big10 bye. Maybe wind up with 22 or 23 wins by end of Tournament, getting a 5th or 6th seed.

Still a lot of good things to look forward to this year, but Jenkins suspension for Domestic Violence, has put a HUGE Hole into the team's post season chances.

But the remaining team has A Lot of HEART, so let's see what unfolds.

Not too many RU teams ever make a post season. This team will.

Ohio State just beat Michigan State in E. Lansing (77-70). Michigan scores 86 (RU 76). Penn State beat Purdue (72-61). Two other games still going on. Do these seem like high scores for B1G teams tonight? Even the losing teams are putting points on the board.

It's tough to play defense, especially from your forwards and center, when 1 is suspended and the other 2 best ones pick up numerous fouls in the opening minutes of the game. I still am shocked how a terrific senior like Carey isn't playing more strategically and getting herself benched early with fouls, every single game since Jenkins has been suspended. I just don't understand it.
Harris too , to a degree. Wallace and Giles try hard, but they don't have the skills that Jenkins, Carey and Harris have.
