Northwestern (10-12, 2-9 Big Ten) is on the road at No. 5 Illinois (19-3, 10-1 Big Ten). The game will tip at 8 pm and air on BTN.

Illinois comes into this game having won their last nine games; Northwestern hasn't won in Champaign since 2013.

Utterly demoralizing. We could play these guys 100 times and lose all 100.

Brutal end to a brutal first half with the Illini draining the tre at the buzzer. Just goes to show the Illini are hitting every they toss up. Martinelli only has 2 points. Illini showing why they are a top team with height, shooting and defense. We just aren’t competive against this Illini team

It's easy for Illinois to shoot 3s when you know that no one on the other team has the height to even attempt to block your shot. Might as well be a shootaround for them...

The European pro team?
Lol that’s a worn out trope. It’s funny but it’s not actually true. The guys coming from Europe aren’t coming from their high level, high paying leagues. They’re their college equivalent. There isn’t an “amateur” equivalent to what we have in college (which isn’t unpaid anymore obviously), so anyone who’s playing high level ball in Europe by default is a pro. But these dudes are getting like 10k a year.

Besides the Americans are the ones killing us. This is humiliating.

Gill just humiliated his daddy with that airball. I guess that’s why Underwood decided he didn’t want him haha

Because top 25 teams are difficult to beat on the road, but Collins has won a fair amount of home games against Illinois, some of them pretty good teams.
Still in 13 tries that’s shocking. Those John Groce teams were bad, as were the first three years or so of underwood.

Maybe Baz Heisman isnt as ridiculous as he seems and Collins might be on at least a warm seat
You can tell this team hates each other. Nick has basically said as much in his postgame pressers about effort. That’s on Collins for awful roster construction.

Also if it’s tired WHO CARES. It’s how the game works now. Adapt or die.

I know we are outmatched but losing by 45 before Illini empty the benches is a sign of bad coaching. There’s no way on talent we are 45 points worse. This is alarming.

Jackson won’t like this game one bit. In state rival and you get humiliated and laughed at. I don’t care how young this team is and how good Illinois is. Just embarrassing.

And when I say it will get Jackson’s attention I don’t mean he will think about firing Collins. I mean he will know that Collins needs more help in roster construction so he can avoid having horrible teams every 3 years.

Not like it matters but Collins sat martinelli basically the entire 2nd half and underpants kept his starters in basically the entire way. Just chucking away three balls. They take more threes in one game than we do in three.

In 13 seasons, Collins is a .500 coach… I’d say that’s averaging out to a bad team way more often than every 3 years.

If Cronin had been able to find a good job to hop to so he could escape UCLA, Collins was going to take that job. In the end it was smart to extend him but I wonder if he’s starting to regret it. He can still jump but his buyout makes it a lot harder.

That’s because they make more threes in one game than we do in three. BTW, Nick was bad today! So, it literally was the entire team. They just don’t shoot with any confidence and just gets worse when they continue to miss. Most of the misses weren’t even close.

They took 37 and we took 25.

Considering we made 16%, taking 25 attempts is about 15 too many haha
