Thank you, this clears up much of the misinformation. To those unaware, my understanding is that the referenced gofundme page was created to raise funds for hiring a new football coach. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

That is correct. The group attempted this on both football boards and were told to stop. NJ.com, in its usual "Bash Rutgers whenever possible" mode publicized it in an article.

Glad to see RU Foundation disavowing it.

67 - Glad to see you are happy that RU (woe is me - I am so poor) is going to turn down a donation of at least 5 figures that comes with no strings attached. Just one example of the great management of SUNJ. BTW: The donations to the fund have increased 33% since the RU announcement.

The donation was not intended to be "no strings attached".

Rutgers has now forced GoFundMe to remove the page and refund the money. I guess they think if they just put their head in the sand the problem will not be there anymore.

that campaign was more of putting pressure on the RU administration to fire Flood than getting $1.5 million to buy Kyle's contract out and if RU didn't terminate Flood any and all money in that fund would gpo to the Rutgers University Fund , no strings attached.

The publicity did show how RU FB fans are so disillusioned with Flood as a HC they had to resort to that movement because they feel Rutgers won't fire Flood because of not wanting to pay his buyout.
Other schools have boosters that pay the bucks to dump their coach and donate more to hire a quality replacement.
Schools like RU, can't do that and usually keep a HC that's not getting the job done until his contract is about to expire.
This go fund movement just publicized how RU fans want Flood gone and put a little more pressure on RU to let Kyle go.
Doubt it will work, but I won't knock what it was trying to do.
In fact I support putting as much pressure as can be put on the RU Administration as possible
to replace Flood.

But this is a WBB board and CVS has proven she's one of the greatest.
I support her [thumb2]

I think the main motivation for the "cease and desist" request from RU was that the fund could have deceived donors into thinking that the money was actually going to the Rutgers Foundation.

This is what was said by person who started it:
>1. This goes to the school directly, you can see that the RU foundation is listed and is a certified charity
2. This is legit and tax deductible

https://www.gofundme.com/FireFlood<

The person who stated this gofund wasn't trying to deceive and the money collected would have gone into the RU Foundation

What s it that people don't understand? Do you have any idea that GoFundMe is a legitimate site that raises millions and millions of dollars for legitimate charities all the time? Did you even look at the site? RUFund could not have even been chosen as the recipient if they had not PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED with GoFundMe to allow them to aggregate funds for them. If your don't understand Crowd funding, it is about time you found out.

the original impetus for this effort was clearly dedicated to funding a buyout to remove the coach.

I guess I don't know what else I'd expect the university to do - the page wasn't authorized and was put there for the purpose of embarrassing the athletic department. Of course the Foundation was going to ask for it to be taken down.

Correct. I have no idea why a couple of posters insist that there was some attempt to divert the money. It was going to the RU Foundation. Period.

To be clear, I agree that the money was going to go to the Foundation. I just think it's also obvious why the Foundation would want it taken down.
