Overall, it's basically the same thing I've been saying for quite a while now. It's just NOT the lack of player talent, it's the lack of mental discipline and bonehead mistakes. No surprise to me in that sense.

I was surprised though today at just how many mistakes were made by the OL. Just shocked at that number even for Nebraska and most of them were pure mental errors (like false starts and personal penalties). Milt must be turning over in his grave. Also I was shocked by the horrible kicking game for field goals. Unbelievable how horrible. What the hell happened here?

On the positive side, I actually was surprised at how close the game was. Expected a real blow out. Defense did their part against one of the most potent offenses in the country. And Martinez for the most part did what he could. Receivers weren't bad. The biggest issue is with the OL and the RB's, likely a connected problem.

Added Observation: I think Oklahoma is going to have a rough time of it in the $EC.

My take is they are finally evaluating players on the OL. Piper not starting was a positive. Negative is OL coach still isn't holding players accountable.

Our freshman OT gave up at least one sack that I saw. We didn't pick a couple of blitzes which hurt us. OU has great players. All things considered we played pretty damned well. OU was spying Adrian and wanting to force us to throw. We almost made them pay for that. Their whole game plan was to stuff the run and keep Adrian in the pocket. I thought there was a chance we could upset them but I thought it would have to be with several Rattler turnovers. I was afraid our kicker could cost us this game if it came down to it...and it did.

The last flag on jurgens the ref may as well have said:

“Personal foul, #51, playing football. 15 yard penalty, 1st down.”

Got wiped out the next play and didn’t mean anything, but that was a terrible call

I was sad to see kicking problems and penalties continue to spoil the effort today. I was proud of the Black Shirts. I was encouraged to see us able run the ball. Thrilled to see Manning, Betts, Allen and Vokolek involved and play well since OU was blanketing Toure. Felt like Nebraska played loose and had their best effort of the season. Hope this game gives them confidence that carries over into next week's game. GBR!
