I wonder if this is a CFP casualty. In the waning days of the Big East / BCS we would often acknowledge that an undefeated Big East team could be left out of the BCS Championship Game at the expense of a 1 loss SEC team. In 2023, undefeated Florida State gets snubbed for the 4 team playoff by a 1 loss Alabama and a 1 loss Texas teams and FSU never seemed to recover. I also remember after the B1G snub where they added Nebraska over RU (where some were certain we'd get the bid), several here wanted to join the ACC. WHEW! Dodged that bullet! The ACC raided the Big East so many times they became the Big East.

We can't afford to hire anyone better (and pay the remainder of the current coach's salary, etc). We are not Ohio State; we have no money.

Other teams have money to throw around. They also weren't foolish enough to give a coach who produced mediocre at best results a contract extension. Most programs would not only have declined to extend him, they probably would have fired him long before now.

Norvell's arc at FSU is interesting . He only had 2 winning seasons, but in both of them he won more than 10 games.

Yes they are “journalists” I get it. RU will never compete in that realm…if Schiano is fired that’s not money that comes from the school…that’s donation money. Moot point, seriously doubt Schiano isn’t RUs coach next September complete with his stale and overused pile of meaningless sayings.
