Since the other thread has morphed away from the original topic .. this is what Indiana was referring to ... not a big deal but most teams are going to use anything they can to try to get extra motivation.

that’s just stupid. It’s true, we have played them what, once in 7-9 years? Frost is dead on. We should be playing them more often. But I get it, they tried to flip as a disrespectful thing, instead of what it actually means. All Frost means is the scheduling needs to be more neutral and evened out better. We play certain teams all the time and then rarely play the others.

The B1G is weird. Fans at places like Wisconsin and PSU fight, throw beer cans, just crazy stuff. And then schools/teams turn around and try to be offended by "winnable game" type comments. It's just odd.

If the IU Athletic Director wants to run around getting mad that people don't think much of their football program I know a bunch of alums he should talk to because they all think IU completely sucks at football. They're the Kansas of the B1G, you ask an IU alum how they did on Saturday and they look at you like, "Why the hell would I know about a game that wasn't basketball?"

I mean, it is weird that Nebraska and Indiana have played like twice since joining the Big 10. I don't care that Nebraska lost to Indiana, I just enjoy seeing them play different teams that are in the same conference.

This is why I say the BIG also decides division champions wrong. It should only be determined by like competition which is head to head in your division

If It wasn’t disrespect, why did he say Indiana and not Penn St? Clearly because Indiana is viewed as a lesser program. Nothing wrong with him saying it. Just don’t act like he was saying it because he wants to play Indiana more because the schedule is loaded with Ohio St.

If we played Indiana every year instead of Ohio St, I doubt anyone would be clamoring for more games against Ohio St and bitching about it being unfair that we have to play Indiana every year.

again, just own it.

These guys are barking after winning one game against us!! Then they publically attempt to embarrass Frost, our players, and our 90,000 fans who attended.

I have a feeling if Frost ever turns this around that stupid comments like this are going to make him keep his foot on the gas pedal if a game gets out of hand against some of these teams.

Some teams are going to feel it, hopefully.

Obviously, he said what he said because OSU is the top dog in the conference, not most years, but every year. Yeah, he could have said penn state, or any other school, but Indiana is the team we have played the least number of times since joining the conference. Who have we played most? OSU. Who have we played least? Indiana.

It doesn’t have to be that complicated.

My understanding was that the B10 was scheduling with the intent of matching up the big name/better performing programs more often than not. Thus Nebraska/Wisconsin/Iowa will face Ohio State/Michigan/Penn State more often than say Rutgers/Maryland/Indiana in cross over games.

I don't see this a sign of disrespect to Nebraska quite the opposite actually. If Nebraska is to get back to it's desired position of national relevance then its going to have to beat those teams eventually.

That is my understanding too. It is good for TV $$, but not ideal for competitive balance. I know in the Big 12 matchups rotated and evened out over time.

Agree with this. I don’t think people here are claiming to be disrespected, just that Nebraska being really down has been made even harder to take with the annual butt whippings handed out by Ohio State.

It doesn't get better with a 10 win season either.

It isn’t complicated at all. He said Indiana because he viewed them as a lesser program than Ohio state and Nebraska. And now the poster I replied to, acts like he knows what’s in Frost’s mind and thought process and is trying to walk back the comments.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear. It is Indiana that is rightly calling frost comments disrespectful. There was no disrespect towards Nebraska in the scheduling process or template. We simply didn’t live up to our end of the bargain

You’re missing my point as well... of course Indiana May feel slighted by Frost’s comments... but think about it from games played. We’ve played OSU like 8 out of 9 years. Indiana 1 out of 9. It could easily be about that as well. It’s a comparison. Who have we played most to who have we played least.

Why say “we’d rather play someone who sucks a little more often”? That doesn’t make sense. But to say, “we’ve only played them 1 time and Ohio State 8” makes sense logically. If Indiana took that as a slight that’s on them.

but that isn’t what he is alleged to have said. He is alleged to have said that he wanted to play some of the weaker teams, from the East, like Indiana more often. I understand how we want to spin it but the comments are disrespectful of Indiana. Period. If Harbaugh said “we would rather play Nebraska every year than Minnesota or Iowa, people on here would go nuts.

again I have no issue with Frost saying it. I would just prefer he own what he said. It is tough to have it thrown in your face after losing to a team that you said you wanted to play more often. Especially people as competitive as Head football coaches

Thanks for the clarification... I missed that he actually said some of the weaker teams...

The real issue is not who Nebraska plays but who else the other teams play in our division if we are constantly playing OSU, MSU, PSU and Michigan more than Rutgers, Indiana and Maryland. Minny will probably win the division because of their schedule more than anything. If they want to have Nebraska play these teams more that is fine but only count the division games to determine the division winner. imo

For the record ....

IU and Nebraska have played 20 times

IU has won 9
Nebraska has won 8
Tie won 3

Good luck the rest of the year, especially 11/2/19.

They’ll run ya off the misdirect.
Ya gotta squeeze em off the edge.
Make em Chuck it away inta the cheapseats.
Watch out for that purgatory they call a stadium.
No drive under 2 minutes.

Coming into this season, we have played the following BiG TeN teams:

Ohio State- 5 out of 8 seasons (62.5%)
Penn State- 4 out of 8 seasons (50.0%)
Rutgers- 3 out of 5 seasons (60.0%)
Maryland- 2 out of 5 seasons (40.0%)
Indiana- 1 out of 8 seasons (12.5%)

Indiana really sticks out.

Leaders and Legends, then East and West.

Year 9, now 2 out of 9.

Purdue and Indiana are protected forever.

IU will get Ohio State and Penn State each year.

Since 1993, Indiana is 1-21 against PSU.

You don’t belong in the Big 10.
