Cliff's Notes?

Excited to be back. Wants to get Nebraska back to where it was. Leaving UCF was tough, he cried. Wasn't sure about taking the Nebraska job. TO said he would look into the situation and see if he felt it was right for him to take the job. Can't say there was anything new that he hasn't said already from what I remember.

You know we fans are, as a whole, big dickheads when a born and raised cornhusker who won a NC had to personally debate taking the HC job. Glad he did. But damn if it isn’t time for some introspection for many of us. Including me.

I agree, but his concerns were more about the administration as a whole all being on the same page.

I personally think Scott is referencing the past administration for his hesitation. Scott knows how fans are, hell all of us know how fans are, there are some that will support the program no matter who is in charge, others who will only support winning and will complain when something bad happens and others who will disagree with everything. It is that way with every fan base everywhere. There are UCF fans who pissed and moaned about their defense this year and they are 12-0. Alabama fans criticized their current qb because they struggle to throw the ball at times. Some Oklahoma fans wanted Stoops out. This is just the way it is in major sports.

That is correct. It was about the administration. And many of the dickheads around here were identifying that as the problem and getting scorched for it.

Every single coach of a Power-5 school will have to deal with crazy fans. That's why they make the big bucks. Look at Stoops at OU and Richt at UGA. A month ago, Auburn fans wanted Malzahn out. Even Dan McCarney got ran out of Iowa State, after taking them to 5 bowls in 6 years. With success comes greater expectations.

Had Frost stayed at UCF, it wouldn't have been long before many of their fans started expecting conference titles every year. Some of their fans were pretty hard on the defensive coordinator after an undefeated season.

Haven’t heard from the butthurt coalition in awhile— haven’t heard from them ( I’m sure he’s just tickled Parrella is not on staff).
Not sure what faction the butthurt coalition occupied during the Riley regime. Personally, I’m 100% for doing exactly the opposite of what Riley and staff were doing.

I think the issue was more with UCF being a great place. I think he thought he would be there 5-7 years and be able to build a successful program that would be his resume for the Nebraska job when Riley retired. The job opening came too fast and if he passed now, it would probably not be available for quite some time, if at all.

I never understood the faction on this board (butthurt coalition) that would poke fun of and mock Frost. Yea let’s bash the local kid that worked hard, won a championship, worked his way fast up the coaching tree and came back home- “the bums lost Lebowski”

One thing I forgot, and it might just be semantics, but Frost was asked about coaching in the bowl game. He said he “wants to.” I didn’t think about it right away, but he didn’t say, “I am going to.” So status on that???

It is a strange situation. I don't see how they get through the bowl game without him and the staff, but how are they going to practice and such? He took the entire staff. The new staff isn't going to be able to do it. I think it would be a nice thing if he and the other staff give those kids a shot at an undefeated season. They've earned it. But do they want him there? The kids, the school, the fans? I know they have reached out with offers to some UCF kids. I am sure that it will go over like a lead balloon.

The ego you have to have to even think this is about you. It has a hell of a lot more to do with the athletic dept leadership, univ leadership, etc, than fans. SMH.

There is a past precedent for this job destroying careers...

Solich
Callahan
Pelini

Two of those guys won more than 70% of their game...the other coached in a super bowl...yet none of them returned to P5 footaball. Frost knows that if thing goes bad, he may never reach his full dreams and goals. That is a hard investment for a guy that should have 20+ years of head coaching left.

I referred to myself as a dickhead, and apparently that means I have ego. I am a Nebraska fan, so, to say “to even think this is about you,” is humorous. Especially on a Husker football messageboard.

Killer screen name, though. Let me know if you need a safe space or feel triggered.

Solich after NU had/has a nice career exactly at the level of play he should have been all along
Callahan was already fired by Oakland when we hired him. After NU he went back to an assistant role in the NFL which is where he came from
Pelini would have melted down at whatever school he went to
Riley - we extended his career for him

NU did not ruin any careers we just hired crappy coaches

I don't recall anybody making fun of Frost. There were several people who were a little overwhelmed by the Frostamania...Some of us were like 6th graders just seeing their first Playboy.

I couldn't possibly agree more. In fact, just as you say, doing the opposite of the Beaver way.....indeed will result in big success.

All I know is that after hearing Scott I was ready to have this 65 year old body join the program to help anyway I can!❤️
