Looks like they brought back the free shuttle service from the Fairgrounds.

It was surprisingly convenient when I used it years ago after I forgot to pack our parking pass.

Seems like a funny way to admit that we don’t have enough immediately adjacent parking to be able to fill the stadium for any normal game. Wouldn’t want the OU fans to think it might be annoying to park if we want them to ever come back…. Lol

Because it is so easy to park on other campuses. They all have tens of thousands of spots right next to the stadium. Kind of like the mall.

Y’all should have tried to park at the old Orange Bowl. Lol at TU or OU complaining about parking.

It has not. It’s a false dichotomy though. Tulsa is not OU or (as written about above) the Orange Bowl.

An apt analogy for modern audiences:

I’m sure there are many fans who would walk 10 miles through broken glass to see Taylor Swift. We are not Taylor Swift.

OU fans were paying $20 to park in yards half a mile from the stadium during the Blake years.
They weren’t Taylor Swift then either.

Last game I attended in Norman I parked over a mile from the stadium and nobody offered a free ride to the stadium. Fairgrounds are about the same distance and we’re providing a shuttle. Seems like a classy move that should be applauded. Given a list of priorities for the future I’d take an indoor practice facility over a parking garage any day. Thus, I’d rather b!tch about the lack of an IPF so let’s get it started.

Arkansas is the absolute worst. And that half mile to mile walk you have usually involves trekking half way up a mountain one way. Hell, I'm pretty sure when we went to Notre Dame we were a solid mile away from the stadium in some grass pasture we paid $20 to park in. Only good thing is those lots actually had merch vending tents in them.

I can tell you all now, if you get to TU at about 11am on Saturday, go and park behind Collins College of Business. There's a small lot out back along 5th St. and TU won't ticket on game days. There's a shuttle stop right there (across from UUMC). Also, secret of the pros...if you can find space in any of the apartment lots on the north side along Delaware, they won't ticket for not having a lot pass. TU's campus security is so stretched thin on game days, they don't have the time to deal with those. Also, back in Kendall Whittier Elementary school lot. There are so many close places to park and you're still only a 5-10 minute walk from the stadium or the tail gate area.

At Arkansas, park at the baseball stadium and ride the free shuttle. It will drop you off right at the gate. No mountaineering skills required.

Did that trek last week with my oldest son and grandson. Parked on Dickson St. across from Walton Arts Center and it cost $5 and was at least 1/2 a mile to the stadium and the hike was as brutal as a day trekking through Disney World. In close proximity to TU there are a plethora of free or inexpensive parking options. The last time Gooner was in town we arrived 30 minutes prior to kick off and parked at Rogers High School. It was a pleasant walk that involved no mountain climbing. The shuttle from the fairgrounds is an upgrade that I would utilize if I had a ticket to the game tomorrow. Unfortunately, I waited too long to see if my boys were planning on making the trip to town, so it looks like espn for me....

I think I've been to2-3 games in Norman, once was with the band so that didn't count as we got dropped at the stadium. The other 2 times we were about 6-8 blocks south of Lloyd Noble, so easily a good mile to mile and a half from the stadium...and let's not talk about the absolutely ******* nightmarish traffic that begins at the I-35/I-40 junction. I've not been back to a game in Norman in quite some time but I would absolutely hit the Kickapoo down to I-40 and then take Sooner Road to avoid the mess on I-35.

You and Ross at the Harrah Kickapoo casino? Shame on you.
I have literally never been in any of the casinos in Oklahoma other than a concert at the Hard Rock. I'm not a big gambler. Boats in St. Louis a couple of times and Vegas once.

You've never been to a game in Norman, or Fayetville.
Yes. I have. People just keep making the same dumb take over and over on this thread. It’s like watching children try and play tee ball and failing miserably.

I’m waiting for someone to say… you should really see the parking situation around the Super Bowl! I had to walk 4 miles just to get there!

Charlotte visiting Tulsa doesn’t provide the same incentive to common fans that a Taylor Swift concert, the Superbowl, or even an OU game does.

If I handed your free tickets to see a local band that almost got famous 10 years ago, but never really made it…. (Let’s say All American Rejects)… who this guy in your office still follows and says you should try out, but you never really had an interest in. And then I told you that you were going to have to walk a mile to and from your car when you get there… and that you could just watch it on TV instead… many people would skip that concert.

Screw the visiting folks that don’t know how to park for TU games, being that their place is far worse than the setup we’re providing. Hell, I suggested that we redirect all this energy that we’re using to b!tch about parking and focus on b!tching about no IPF.
